DefendeR Forum, would seem like a start.I always wanted a LanDRoveR,since I was a child, seeing them every night on the 6 and 9 o'clock news.Mid '70's,early enough series ,might find out some useful information on how to fix one if it goes wrong.
My parents wouldn't allow me to ever come home if, I had joined the army at the age of 16 as a tank mechanic.I'm 39

People just love to bash other people's stuff. Makes them feel good about what they've got. It's the same old "mines bigger/better then yours" **** all over again...

will we all group together and bashthe **** out of the tata LRX thingy

it's called trying to be helpful, and perhaps if what I (and the vast majority of others here will also say) helps to save someone from buying a money pit then i will be happy - no one ever gets forced to take written advise seen here do they

you might notice it's not just me who raises the point about hippos

as for your "closet case" comment ....... what do you expect me to say ?

The vast majority of us are here to find useful information on how to fix
and maintain our vehicles.Them some mentalist starts ranting "you shda

would you be so kind as to show me where I've called the "guy" an idiot please

are you sure you are moaning at the right person as I fail to see ANYTHING within any of my posts on this forum that could provide you with even the slightest bit of evidence to support that comment

i'm sorry you feel the need to defend your choice of vehicle with such an unfounded and inaccurate response, could i kindly suggest that you put your handbag away and stop being such a big girl

regards

Are you kidding me or do you really believe you're being helpful in any way? Take this thread:
http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/1-8-petrol-engine-mods-96958.html

Guy desided on a petrol Freelander. Made up his mind. I agree, not the best pick, but hey, it's his car. Take a guess how many times people repeated it's not a reliable car? Twenty nine freakin' times! My girlfriend nags significantly less than that! Explane to me how on earth repeating it 29 times is helpfull after the guy has already desided? That's not being helpfull, it's being an ass if you ask me...

That's just one example. It happens time and time again. Somebody mentions a Freelander, especially a petrol one, and the goon squat comes running in screaming how bad they are. If somebody asks which car to buy, fine. ****ting on people's car's isn't helpfull in any way...

You do seem upset by me calling you a closet case. Something you want to share with us...?

Who cares?
If peeps ask for our experience - we tell em.
If he had made up his mind then its a pointless exercuse anyway.
I tend to think that most peeps can make up their own minds, irrespective of wot anyone on here says. Dont get so paranoid. Its not your money. You mite have noticed that in amongst the dross, there were a couple of answers as to which mods to do, unfortunately in your blinkered way, you seem to have overlooked them in your hurry to condemn those that said it wasnt a reliable car to start with and that "mods" wont fix it.

Oh, you're absolutely right. But what about the other 28 times...

That just
a) adds weight to the furst post.
b) shows a lot of peeps have had the same crap experience.

Not if it's coming from the same person. Sean here contributed 6 times to this. I get the point, but this is way beyond giving helpful advise. Besides, I seriously doubt most of them are speaking from their own experience...

As an owner of both a Defender (Td5 90 Hardtop) and a TD4 Hippo, I have to say I find all this anti-FL stuff a bit risible. We need the TD5 for all the standard farm jobs, but as I also have to work for a living (tried making money out of farming these days?) I needed a 4x4 to get to work. So looking for a small cheap to run, cheap to buy British-built 4x4, should I have bought a Honda instead?

BTW, my FL has got 65K on the clock and has never had a problem. Which sadly is more than could be said of my TD5 (or the TDi that preceded it, or the IIa that preceded the TDi)
