an ickle update

after the messing about trying to get the skew gear back in i decided to take off the sump and remove the oil pump and the skew gear just dropped into the hole in the right position and the grub screw hole ligned up perfectly :D:D:D:D

good job i removed the oil pump coz ive noticed the oil pickup gauze filter spins in the pump inlet ( no matter how tight yer get the nut ) so tomorrows little mission will be to find a way of getting it to stay where its supposed to be without the risk of it turning upwards and getting smashed to #### by the crank journals

then its just slap evrything back on prime it up and then eat the fekkin holy bible so i can prey through me ass hoping the smoke has been rectified :rolleyes:

theres a big o ring seals the pick up tube ,it will be knackered

big copper washers ive got floating about or do yer mean rubber ones

if i aint got anything like that ill turn up some brass or bronze ones on the lathe
now that bugger is a dream to use since i machined up a new crossfeed thread shaft from a wheelie bin axle :cool:

oring supposed to fit over pipe an a steel washer squashes it when you tigthen nut ,no reason why you cant fit a suitable oring in first for pipe to push against

Good luck mate. Anyway, it sounds like lady luck is on your side if you got the skew gear lock pin to line up first time...had me pullin me hair out for ages

how doooo

its been a little while since i added to this thread due to ill health ( gastro interitus )

so to get meself back into the swing of things with the landy and also coz i was sick to the back teeth of listening to me missus moaning about the state of the grotty half built trailer on the driveway i thought id spend a few leasurely hours finishing that and to try and make it match the landy a little better rather than skanky white primered plywood

aaahhhhaaaaa!!!!! here it is !!:D

now ive found the resto thread ill give it an ickle update

ive finally given up on the original engine as im just sick of throwing money at it and getting nowhere so thanks to GRATCH i now have a 12j engine to put in the bugger but first there were a few things in the way

first was the battery tray and air filter stand wich i carefully whipped out with the grinder ( and chopped through one of the brake lines in the process  )

then moved it to the seatbox on the passengers side

first find some metal to make a box with ( sourced from the loft this time )

then cut the shape out

after a bit of bending welding hammering and a slap with the chassis paint i got this

i then chopped the seatbox open and dropped the bugger in rivveted it and ended up with this

half hour later a bit of swearing drilling and yanking on damn thick wires its in and functional :D:D:D

now for sorting the engine a bit first by giving it a damn good clean up with a 50/50 mix of petrol and diesel she came up rather good :D:D

then it was all taken over the street to me mates garage for the transplant wich shortly after this pic i smashed me 2 week old fone and couldnt take any more pics

old engine coming out

oh thats great bud, thanks for letting me know, now i can stop wasting my time looking for an engine then hey.

with the new engine ( coz its been stood fer a few months ) i had a bit of a problem with the fuel pump ( damn throttle armature inside was stuck at full blast ) so today i have had a wonderfull time stripping the bugger down and refurbishing the gubbinz to free and clean evrything up and hopefully tomorrow ill get the bugger back on and running again

4" grinder with a 1mm cutting disc and no guard fitted

Nice :)

I cant remove the guard on mine or rather don't want to, last time a 1mm disc shattered on me the guard did a good job of deflecting the big bits, had a grinding one shatter without a guard and that hurts!
