I want to play in the snow though! Plus my shed is used in the winter.

I still need to sort the exhaust, it is kind of in the right place, but resting on the bump stop. In the pic above you can see the parachute cord that is holding the exhaust!
 
I can see why you are asking about my floor now, James.
I wonder if you could just sikaflex the floor and top hats in? It'll be tricky to drill up through the holes around the edge.
It'll be interesting to hear peoples views on that as I'm not sure how much, if any, the floor adds to the integrity of the structure.

As a temporary fix, you could use stove seal rope (ceramic braid) to tie it off :)
This thread is great James, well done getting the Landy back together and looking proper smart. Looking forward to seeing the paint get finished off.

It is slowly getting there, struggling with time a bit again at the moment.

I think I will rivet as close as I can get to the bulkhead and stick it all down with tigerseal. That should do. Its not going to be carrying any heavy weight I don't think.
 
Got some body prep done last night, did some filling and sanding on the back

Then spent the rest of the evening getting the lacquer off the roof. Horrible job clinging to the 90 for 2 hours scraping off stinking lacquer with a stanley knife blade...

I need to speed this project up a bit seeing as my car has gone into limp home mode and I don't have a spare £2000 for a new turbo...
Going to go up to the farm on my lunch break today to do some more filling and sanding ready for primering after work. Hopefully get some painting done tomorrow.

I hate it to be honest, you think you have done a decent job, then it looks crappy when it is painted.

Damn, this is the worst job ever. I can see why bodywork places charge so much.

Done a load more sanding and some more filling. Will hopefully get it primered after work.
 
Better put an update on here...but I had to send my phone for repairs, so no pics for now. Might take the camera up later.

Spent all of Sat primering, sanding and masking with the help of Sarah and my friend Rich. I hate body prep, easily the worst job on the whole project, even if it doesn't involve mud in my eyes and hair!

Another friend did the first coat of paint yesterday which looks great. Though apparently if you use Sharpie to draw around imperfections it comes through the primer and paint! Got to go and get some more paint today if my car will make it to Derby, then he can finish and do the back door which I still need to mask off and sand. Pretty exciting, after that I only have a few tidying up jobs to do.
 
You're not the only one who hates paint prep bud, I hate it too, Seems to take forever :(
What I always tell myself is the more prep I put in now the better the paint will come out.
But top work so far, Not far to go now :)

Same rioja red as before, just tidier. No one would let me go with anything else...personally I wanted orange
 
Mines the same colour and happy to stick with it. Like the colour anyway, but we've had it for 10 years and everyone associates us with it, so it's part of the family as it is.

Yeah, that was kind of my reasoning too, my dad hates it because it is "too metallic" whatever that means!

Just waiting for my friend to finish the lacquer and then I can crack on with the rest of it. I have slowed down slightly though, as may as well wait until the end of the month and save a months road tax.
 
Pretty big update.

Got the lights back on and mostly wired up too.

The paint job isn't perfect due to temperature and space to get around in the shed, but fine what I will use it for.
After that I got the floor mostly fitted:
Top hats in and painted

Gave the floor what sound proofing I had left and a quick spray of stonechip

Then got it in. This was not as easy as I thought and I got tigerseal everywhere. Few more rivets to put in and that job is done. Don't suppose anyone has any pics of how the thresh and bottom rubber seal are supposed to go?

Not sure whether to paint the floor or not. It will be covered up anyway.

I also managed to tidy up the wiring going down the side of the chassis, thanks to Trax for suggesting fuel pipe and cable ties, works nice.

So jobs left to do:
- Transfer stuff from old door, fit it
- Finish tidying up breather pipes
- Put interior back in and clean it
- Wire switch to switch tank reporting
- Number plates on
- Finish fitting rockslider
- Mud flaps and make my own wheel arch ones
- Fit back spats.
- Sort exhaust when I work out what I am doing with it.
 
Yeah, noone is going to steal it for the body panels. I always knew the doors were screwed!



I only really put effort into the tub and that has come out really nice.
 
I would paint the floor.
I'm not sure about the stainless thresh, the pictures on the YRM site are too shiny to see what's what. I think I'll email them when I get around to putting it on.
