Well it is pretty much on the road, pending a couple of small jobs (tracking, stereo aerial, some wiring).

I fixed the oil leak, turned out I had undone one of the oil cooler pipes at the engine end! Also got the exhaust to fit properly by shortening a bit of the end sections. Fits nice now.

My shed is empty of tools (which are all in my car), the rest of the jobs I can do on the drive.

I put my raised "DEFENDER" letters on the bonnet, but they looked naff, so took them off again!

One question, how much horizontal play is there normally on the front wheel on the top and bottom?

Took some proper pics of it in the daylight, apparently there was no memory card in the SLR so you will have to make do with my phone pics:

There should be no play in the wheels, horizontal is track rod or steering rod ends, up down is wheel bearing or kingpins.

Ill be in the work shop all tomorrow if you want to check the tracking :)

Cheers, when you about?

There is about 2mm of sideways movement if I push on the top of the tyre above the alloy. All the joints and bushes are new...

Brilliant, just what I needed to finish filling the bulkhead on my 110!

Great build by the way, I expect you are very proud. I love the colour with the black arches and wing tops.

James sorry I'm in the hunt again!!!!

Where did you get you mudguards from. One fo mine have fallen off!

Im in the workshop now mate :)

Prolly not gonna make it up today, got to put some Christmas decorations up :)

Driven to belper and back in it today, couple of small things to fix, the exhaust is knocking slightly and the dual filler only filled the main tank, but other that that its been awesome.

Todays' update, just got the tracking done. The guys at the tyre place were impressed :)

It also drives awesomly now. Before it was pretty wandery but now it feels a lot more surefooted (as much as a defender can).

The exhaust is giving me a bit of a headache though. I can rotate it it so it isn't touching the tank bracket, but every time I go back to it after driving it is touching again.

Might have a go at bending the bracket...

Can you get something to wrap around the exhaust, like rubber or something? I guess it would burn...

Been up to the metal guy today and he has sorted the exhaust for me. Yay! So I can actually drive it now!

Had to take a couple of inches out in one place and a few more in another. Am I best painting the welds with something, or will it just burn off?

Also, sadly water seems to have got into my paint, so at some point 3/4 of it will need doing again. Probably after Morocco in the summer I reckon. Might have a go myself.

Roof tent has come so might try and get that fitted today.
