It's very odd how some rot out and others don't. I had my boot handle off the other day to fix the swtich. There's not a speck of rust on my door at all. However my boot handle is in a rite old state. I'v done a quick repair with a couple of self tappers.

I run 3 RHD vehicles in France, my P38, Transit & MR2. No problem at all, even my French wife is happy driving the P38, in fact I can't get it away from her LOL.
 
i have a classic mini so i needed to learn to weld lol ,but i made the mistake first of learning (self taught ) with a gasless welder then went to a gas welder in my opion gas is much much better
 
yep i have the same problem,
my fix was to make up a small aluminium plate(thin guage)to cover the area,formed it into shape and sparayed it, then glued it into position, you wouldnt notice a rapair had been done, i guess if i remove the door card i will uncover more rust areas, but then its a 13yr old motor

never thought of gluing it in ,was going to fibreglass it but to be honest i wanted a proper job doing ,so welded it in with correct gauge metal plate

welding once you get the hang of it is easy ,to be honest since learning ive managed to make quite alot of ££££ from it that funds the rebuild of my classic mini (has a 1.8 vvc engine in it and carbon fibre front end ,goes like a rocket )

welding is fine if you have plenty of metal to weld too, think my tail door is very thin, and the glue was quick and easy and , to be fair its the only piece of body work that has rotted so far, apart from the scraficial fuel tank shield :D
