Hi, My 1999 td5 has a factory fit alarm/immobiliser, but I don't think it does what it's supposed to. When I press the fob, it sounds the horn twice?? If you get in nothing happens, even though there is a little sensor looking thing over the drivers door. If you lift the bonnet the horn sounds and apparently if you try starting it without a key. When you blip the fob for 'off' it flashes the indicators.
Should it be passive and linked to the doors opening? Should the horn really sound twice - not great for neighbours at night.
I'd appreciate knowing how other people's alarm/immobiliser works.
If it's not working properly do you think I could take it to an alarm place and get it fixed? And are they any good if and when working or is it better to get a third party alarm fitted.
Having just had my last landy pinched, I'm a bit paranoid, so want to at least get the alarm working properly (or a good replacement) plus disklock.
Really crap that you have to worry about it being stolen all the time, rather than enjoying it... anyhow, as usual, thanks for any advice.
Cheers
Andy
