So I have a 94 LSE softdash which is great and going nowhere anytime soon.

But its done 185K and whilst used daily has the usual niggles - seat heating/cruise don't work, some remedial bodywork wouldn't hurt and general tidying.

So lets say I wanted to improve it or replace it and had £10K to spend.
How much tidying would I get on my car for that?
I'd want all the bodywork sorted, the engine rebuilt with a new cam, the air suspension refurbing and everything checked.

In comparison if I assume I might get 3K for mine now 13K gets you a 100K L322 from 03 ish.

Would it be a much better car or just newer with more expensive problems?

Softdash LSEs are slightly less common than some and good classics are starting to fetch decent money.

Its hypothetical as I don;t want a L322 - much too big but I'm looking for more good reasons to refurb mine!

So thoughts?

if you can get yours to a1 spec then it worth keeping..but there are loads of sofdash on ebay..some just not selling...

full respray 2.5k..engine sub 1k..

10k gets you 3 sofdashs!!yours not ever gonna be worth the 10k extra..just spend a little..

You may well be right but there are CSKs at £45K and standard Graeme Hunt fare - stock SE at £25 K. There's a nice LSE on PH with tray tables and gun drawer at £10K and I don't know how good the car is.

The asking prices are there - now they are asking prices granted.

Anyone suggest good Rangie restorers or do it piecemeal?

true, juicy took 7 goes to complete a sale for his 94 softdash on ebay and it had no rust and no dents on it . still only got £800.

they way 2 doors are going up in value mate buy one of those!!

my mate just got an l322, he does like it but the radio reciver draining the battery with false signals or summit is killin him, hes drivin about with a spare battery and a solar charger all the time. youd have thort they would have sorted that after the gay38 and got a jap to do the electrics on the l322

I was gonna say, if you've got £10k to spend on an LSE, sell yours and buy this - it looks mint and has a gun/drinks cabinet!! Outwood : Classic 4.2 LSE Auto

In all seriousness though, I don't know what condition yours is in but I would imagine £2,500 would get it pretty good nick and add at least that to its value. I'm not sure you'd get £3k for yours with that mileage, but then it depends what condition the car is in?

always makes me laught, 8k's worth of woodwork , sat next to 2ks worth of rrc cheap plastic and fiber parcel shelf etc oh yeah and the rust that must be hiding :D

2.5k for a respray? Where, when and how I need to know.

My mother drove her lovely new rs5 into the back of my LSE when I went home.for Xmas. New brooklands rear bumper, 2 wings need replacing (which I have). The thing OS the paint iss pretty dead on mine even after a mop so new sprays at the rear will look sh*t. Hand forced for a respray.

I was always planning on changing the colour and want to go grey so it'll be a.panel off job. I was budgeting 6/7K although. HAven't been to anyone so not sure if too high or too low. Live in London and Dorset so any idea's on where might be worth visiting?

I know a lad not too far away from me that does full car resprays for £800! Would be a bit more on a vehicle of Rangie size but about a grand I'd say. I'll put his number up tomorrow If I can get it (may see him in boozer tonight) He did me a bonnet, blended the wings and touched the bumpers up on my VW Passat for £200. Looked like new!

My old boss got a Vivaro respraying for 900quid from a mate, he said should be about 1500.

If the bodywork is tidy, think about a wrap?!

There's a guy here in Bucks who does all my spray work, very good and does lots of premium/quality cars, he'll be doing the back end of mine soon - quoted £300 for boot and rear 1/4 panels on both sides including remedial work to remove a dent and some rust. I'd say £1,000-£1,500 for a basic respray in the same colour, double that for a panel-off job? Let me know if you want his number!

respray prices?!...

How long's (or short) a piece of string.
I know of some who have spent near a grand on the paint....n thats just a can of.
..I also know of a bodyshop in Manchester that advertises full resprays 'from' £100 n there's always a row of jam jakie taxis parked outside LOL ... tho I am assuming ya don't want it peelin off the next time you have the car washed!

It's not only the two-doors that are creeping up - a really clean original '84 four-door Vogue sold (yes sold) on ebay last December for just over £7000. The problem with softies is that they share some of the P38's woes, bearing in mind that the LSE was effectively a test-bed for the oncoming 'new model' so I suspect that the real RRC enthusiasts are leaning towards the 'keep it simple' model years
