Don't buy a Range Rover and expect cheap motoring....simples!

Hmm, won't be that bad, still got the defender for the 30,000 a year, done 4000 last year in my weekend car.

Getting my 90 back on Monday, the final trip to the main dealer for some warranty work, took them two weeks to sort it out. Warranty is pretty good with them, that's three years and 90,000 miles and all I've had to pay for is servicing and one mudflap! The next three years won't be as cheap for parts:(

TDV8 is better mpg wise than the TD6, cos it's got a six speed autobox. Also the 6 speed box is slightly more reliable cos LR put in a regular service interval for it, as opposed to the GM box 'sealed for life' (i.e. no services required) statements. Later L322 TD6s have at least had their gearbox oil and filters changed due to earlier models 'eating' their g/boxes around the 80k miles mark.

Stick with the 3.0TD6. We have a waiting list for the 3.6 TDV8 engines - speaks volumes to us as they must be rubbish! Same goes with the Sport 2.7. Not sure why tho.
My 4.4 Overfinch V8 was returning over 23mpg around town. Current TD6 is just under 20mpg.
V8 all the way....

Either you have lead boots or there's summat up with your Td6, my mates gets close to 30mpg

Really ?

What's the figures ? I'm interested :)
Someone posted a couple of days ago, the L322 is about a second faster to 62mph if I remember correctly, that's quick!:D
400 kilos more weight and only another 36BHP so it sounds about right.

I'd like to put them side by side

Saying that you could be right

I'm so used to mine with the box turned on now iv probably forgotten how slow they were when standard :/

There is a bit more low end on the M57 and the throttle response is normal. The P38 is screwed by the strange throttle response but if you floor it it's not far behind and it passes when the L322 box lets go:rolleyes::):).

HG is the least of my worries, that's a 5 minute job. Slipped liners are wot nightmares are made of:eek:

slipped liners... thats what i meant !

i knew it was something the petrols suffered with.

do they suffer as bad or worse even once LPG converted ?

Some say because LPG runs hotter in can advance the issue. But for every LPG'd P38 with a slipped liner there's one that's covered well over 100k miles without issue. Some say production tolerances were ****e, some say it's down to running too lean to meet admission targets or a badly designed cooling system. Take your pick.

I guess as much as anything it just boils down to luck. I just change my oil regularly and keep my cooling system in top order. So if it does happen I know it's down to bad luck!!
