I just bought an ICD Direct control unit to replacec the CD autochanger. Fitting was dead easy and I can now control my ipod using the Stock Alpine head Unit.

If anyone was thinking about getting this instead of changing out the head unit or using one of those FM devices I can say from my experience it is a very cool piece of kit.

Hi Nik, Ive been looking at these - just check that link, as it doesnt mention the Range Rover. How are you finding the operation ?

Hi im looking at getting one of these now for my dhse thats only going back on the road soon after a year off but can only find limited info on it. Just want to ask when u say stock head unit do u mean this one? What does the display show when playing the ipod?

That pic is the same Alpine head unit I have. So far it is a good piece of kit however I thought it would display the song on the display but it doesn't. Not a big deal to be honest.

I have also had a high pitched noise which increases slightly when the revs are higher. It is not that noticable but a little annoying. I wonder if moving the black box about might help...could be getting some interference from somewhere. Or could be a problem with my amp.

Old thread I know but for those (like me) that found InCarIpod seem to have gone out of business, just to confirm that a Connects 2 CTALRIPOD005 does the same thing and steering wheel controls etc. work fine. It is listed for Disco II but works fine with P38 and Alpine HU.
