I have an interesting problem with the interior / courtesy light on my P38.

It has a mind of its own and comes on whilst I'm driving.
When this happens the dash warning display indicates that the front offside door is open, which it isn't and the alarm warning bleeps everytime I pull away from a stop. I switch the light off easily enough, but the warning bleeps are driving me nuts when I'm in traffic.

I can't find any sort of light switch on the door pillar to auto-activate (or de-activate) the interior light when you open the door.

Any ideas how the int lights are activated by opening a door and if a fault such as this can be rectified easily. All ideas welcomed.

Cheers
Steve

The switch for the interior light is on the door lock mechanism in the door, its probably just a defective switch in the door that the message centre is reporting to be open!

Don't leave it though - sort the switch out because as the vehicle thinks the door is open the EAS is, in effect, frozen - no height changes will take place nor will any self levelling happen.

Thanks Wills

I noticed this morning that the EAS wasn't working and concluded that it was in safety mode i.e. locked, as the warning centre display was reading RH F DOOR OPEN.

I activated the EAS by pushing down the internal driver's side door lock, tripping the central locking and fooling the system. Not really a long-term solution though.

Not sure how to rectify the faulty switch, but will need to get it sorted PDQ.

Cheers
Steve
