I hope someone can help, I have a 2004 Freelander TD4 and a wire has come adrift on the connection to the sensor switch half way along the top intercooler pipe.
Unfortunately it has come away just inside the switch so I cant solder it, are these switches something I can buy or do I have to get a whole section of loom to replace it.
It doesnt seem to affect the general running of the vehicle except when going up hill my Engine management light turns on and I get turbo lag

Can get the parts from BMW for this to repair it or eBay - junior power timer is the connector type

I'm sure there's a post on this already

If it is the connection below, you can get one from a R40 another FL 1 or a BMW you may have to visit a scrap yard, just make sure you cut enough wire length to join to your existing wiring loom, when you connect use a straight connector or solder them together and also use some heat shrink over the join.

Thank you for this, Ive just found one on ebay for £3.99 inc del. Beats the £348 + VAT supply only, that landrover want for a new wiring harness to replace 1 plug

Thank you for this, spot on with the Pics. Ive just found one on Ebay for £3.99 so saves me rummaging through a scrappies and going home with half the yard much to the wifes displeasure (because it might be useful one day)

When you have soldered the wires together put som amalgamating tape on it and it will be seal for life

The wiring is stupidly short for that sensor. The connector itself is nothing special these days and as you know, is available cheaply off Ebay. I can't even see the live data for that sensor on my engine. The sensor was only fitted to later TD4s. Seem strange to have added the additional sensor, mid production. It's after the intercooler so obviously monitors the intake air temperature. It would have done a more reliable job if they'd added a couple of inches of extra wire.
