Hi

Thinking of upgrading from Disco 1 to a disco 3. Any info on insurance costs. I have full no claims and well over 25 (+ 50 )

Why not contact the insurance company that sponsor the insurance threads AF, or contact a few and ask?

Not sure what you are looking for otherwise.

Cheers

under 50 just, 3 yrs n/c, kept on drive, under 400 quid, cheaper available but I was to lazy to sort it out!

Ran classic for 4 yrs so lost all previous n/c, bought D3 expecting ins to be expensive and it was just under 300 quid, very happy:D

Compare the market etc would be first step.

It varies from person to person I'm afraid @welshspringer - Did you want to drop me a private message with your contact details? I'd be happy to give you a call so we can run through a quote with you. Can be hypothetical of course, if you're just toying with the idea?

Thanks
Jordan

@lynall - What classic were you running? I had an MGB GT as my only car, I would use a classic car policy for two years which was much cheaper, then switch to a standard one to keep the no claims, then back to classic again.

My old 90 ran it as my daily for 4 yrs and I knew that after 2 yrs you lost the no claims, but as said above D3 not dear to insure at all so wasnt fussed at all.

think the D3 is ins group 33

as u go up the specs is becomes more expensive , alas as said so many factors come into the final quote

give adrian at flux a call and should be able to give u a competitive quote

mine was £500 , 51 , protected ncb , clean licence , have 5 x years ncb, parked on drive, limited mileage of 3,000 miles, full breakdown cover, 20% extra for payout in the event of theft, writeoff etc , key cover

still surprised for being middle aged in how expensive ins costs

Hi

Thanks for the info, think I'll stick with the Disco1 300tdi. Insurance for 3 named drivers unrestricted miles less than £300.
It has had a new boot, arches and sills so should outlast me, only 160k on the clock, 1996 vintage and all elecs work.
