Hi all,

New to Landrover and purchased my first which is a 2004 Range Rover 4.4 V8. My instrument cluster is pixelated so i bought a replacement which was cheaper than repair (matching numbers). When i slaves the new one in, i have ABS light, Engine light and one other as well as air suspension error displayed.

Can i actually swap these or should i get my old one repaired? Do i need the new one mapping to my car?

Cheers

You cn swap them over and not have any 'issues' but the instrument pack contains vehicle specific information and the proper way is to read the old cluster to diagnostics, then after installing the replacement, have this date read back the new one.

You may also find you have the tamper dot in the trip mileage window, this indicates that the instrument pack is different to the orginal.

If you removed the battery to replace the instrument pack ,then you will have to do a lock to lock reset of the steering angle sensor and this may clear the ABS/HDC/DSC/EAS fault warnings.

Thanks for that.

Being new to this, im guessing ill need to take it to a landy specialist to swap it using diagnostics?

I have the dash in bits so its just the plug in i would need im guessing then i would rebuild

Thanks again

What Range rover have you got? If it's a sport, the binnacle cannot be replaced unless you replace the Engine ecu, ABS ecu, Suspension ecu.

I've done it many times.

The Binnacle on a L322 is the main hub ecu.

I pretty sure you need to swap out the other ECU's from the same vehicle, but you will be changing the identity.

Hello Rick, I wondered if you could be kind enough to help me please... We have a 2008 TDV8 HST Sport, the cluster was using the hazards to flash and immobiliser non start on occasions, we sent the cluster off to a company to repair and when it cam back the vehicle has immobilised all the time and they had also buggered up the display with half the pixels missing, sent if off to them again and this time display good but still immobiliser light flashing/ non start... I've bought an eco/ lock set and key from eBay and we fitted it all yesterday but immobiliser light flashes and no start!.. also no central locking now, I wondered if we are missing something or needs to be programmed, we have autel elite diagnostics for what that worth, should it all be plug and and drive or am I dreaming :)
