hi, got a freelander 1 2.0TD, Thinking of taking out the injector's to give them a good clean, there doesn't seem to be a problem with them so is it worth taking them out? or will a fuel additive do a good job? if so got any recommendation's.

Taking them out can be a significant job as they are usually stuck in good and proper.

Also you cannot actually clean anything really with them out that an injector clean additive will not do just as well.

The one I use and recommended often on the site it Millers - sold in Halfords. Instructions on the bottle.

If the hippo is running do not remove!!! ..... these things can be real bar-stewards....
if it sarts and runs and you really want give the system a good clean ..... do a common rail purge. Use BG244 Power Enhancer | BG 244 | Diesel Engine Cleaners | Fuel Injector Cleaner buy a new fuel filter ..... tip power enhancer in new filter and refit. start motor run for 2 minutes at idle. Switch off and leave for 24 hours..... restart and go for a good 30min run keep the revs up a bit. This should work a treat...BG244 is a really powerful cleaner. Good luck please post your results.

If it's a Td4 then leave well alone & use a good injector cleaner. If it's an L-series then it would probably respond well to having the injectors ultrasonically cleaned & recalibrated by an injector specialist.
