Good observation! Now I look back at the pics, you are right, it isn't galv.
I still think you could get get ten years out of that by scraping down and re-painting those areas, though.
and as it doesn't sound like he has driven one before, might be an idea to try it before going to a lot of effort, series aint for everyone!
that's true.. but it gnaws at me to have a galv chassis, cappings, capstan, disc conversion and all the rest, but a rusty bulkhead
to the op.
i forgot you have never driven one. as above drive it first
but if you don't like it, then don't leave it to rust away, flog it on to someone who will do the upkeep
(with all the effort gone into it, i think the old boy would have probably wanted that too)
