If you look at the snap on bits there is a little symbol near the part number that tells you what year it was made, can be a right bugger to see though.Bought this off the bay recently

Full set of Britool a/f and whitworth with all the accessories for Ā£60 +Ā£20 postage. Thereās a few strap-on bits in there too. Iām hunting a set of metric sockets to replace the whitworth though

From the snap on website, slightly different part nos, but gives you an idea on prices.
Rough rule I always work on with used Snap On gear is fair used condition is roughly half of its new off the van price, which is normally cheaper than the prices listed on their website, not massively cheaper though unless its on offer.

So the breaker bar is worth more than I paid for the whole box . Will look out the other bits at some point
Hereās some advice bossā¦enjoy the rebuildAfternoon all, I've got some very rusted wheel nuts to tackle on a 91 reg Defender, followed by an attempt on a (rusted) re-chassis... I've got a high torque impact driver, and am looking to buy some impact sockets, but am wondering if I need to buy a "whole set", or whether I can pick and choose / there are only 4 or 5 that I'll need.....?
Also, I'm wondering if there's a certain brand that people recommend, or are the all pretty much of a muchness?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.
Many years ago I bought a very old Snap on breaker bar from a car boot sale for 2 quid! Knuckle was missing but amazingly the current ones still fitted it, Snap On van man reckoned it was circa WW2 era, still use it most days.So the breaker bar is worth more than I paid for the whole box . I bought a 3/8 Snap On ratchet for a fiver from a carboot sale. After using it discovered there was a tooth or two missing so i enquired about the so called lifetime warranty and would it be valid for a carboot buy with my cousin who is a mechanic. He said to drop it in and he'd speak to his Snap On rep the following week. Turned out to be a lot older than either of us thought! It was part of a Sherman tank tool kit from WW2.Many years ago I bought a very old Snap on breaker bar from a car boot sale for 2 quid!
