Hi all,
I have a 1998 Discovery (3.9l petrol). I had been having some difficulty with the key turning in the ignition barrel and then finaly, a couple of months ago it stopped turning all together. SO a call to our breakdown service and the friendly chaps took 5 mins to remove the steering cowling and the ignition barrel and that way I could start the car with anything (quite frightning how quick it was !!). However there was still a requirment that I had the key fob because I needed to use that to cancel the imobiliser.
No problem, everything was fine for a while but then last weekend the battery showwed signs of having run down (a problem I have been having for a while) and the fob didnt appear to be unlocking the car so as usual I took the battery off charged it and put it back on. Trouble is that now the key fob wont do anything. It wont unlock the car - and it wont cancel the imobiliser (there is a flashing red light in the shape of a car on the dash).
What can I do?
HELP!!!
Cheers in advance
