Hi all, I've got a 1996 defender 90 countryman.

The Battery in the landy went flat as i have been unable to drive it for 3 months due to a back op.

Charged the battery up last week, went to start it and but the original land rover alarm/immobiliser (didnt even realise it was still in there) has decided to kick in!
key fob for it doesnt work.
The original alarm was apparently bypassed when a cobra alarm was installed prior to me owning it. (according to the paper work i found)

I have the eka code for the LR alarm/immobiliser as i got it from the LR dealership today but cant seem to get it to work.

a light on the bottom left row with a pic of a landy with a key is flashing, and the LED between the dials is on solid.

Running out of ideas as to what to do.
Inherited the land rover from my dad who passed away last year.

Am I entering the code wrong?

Its the turn the ignition to position 2 for 5 sec, turn it off,
open the driver door, close the driver door, turn the key to pos 2 number of time for first digit..... ect ect.

HELP!!!!
Cheers!

I've no idea if this will work , but if you still have the fob take the battery out of it and then put it back in . It worked for me when I changed my car battery and had a similar problem, no idea what was happening though .

unsure if it will work but I'm willing to try anything now!
Never had to use the fob for the LR alarm ever since we had it, Only used the Cobra alarm fobs. (had it with a just in case note on it)

If the original is redundant and has been bypassed with a Cobra system why are you trying to enter a LR access code? perhaps you should be looking it the Cobra unit has power to it still and also trace the wiring from it to what ever is immobilising the vehicle.

As the Cobra is an installed third party system a lot of the wiring should be traceable unlike the factory wiring.

Its def the Original one, The cobra is arming/disarming with no problem at all.
Will trace the wiring tomorrow.

Found how they "bypassed" the immobiliser..... Take a look at the pic

that's standard procedure, we use that method when we are banger racing but can't have the barrel attached to the column

I've ordered a new fob with programmer for £60. Hoping that will solve it. if it doesnt then I'll get it removed
