OK, so, bloke wants about 2K. No rot on the chassis or bulkhead, no mechanical faults. It is a conversion i.e. someone has put a V8 in. I'm going to check it over tomorrow. I'll check for rust and how good the V8 transplant is!!

Providing all is OK, do you think 2K is a fair price? I put it at about 1800 to be honest?? hmmmm

I welcome your better informed opinions :)

Aye sounds allright. Remember the tyres will have cost 500quid. I'd be sure to test his claims of no rust mind they've all got some.

If I was looking at it i would ;
1, Have a good look at the " recently waxoiled chassis " whats the seller trying to hide ?
2, What V8 is it ,is it a Land Rover V8 , Rover SDI V8 ,how old ? get the engine number find out the price for parts , When do they change the engine oil ?
3, Disc brakes front + rear not std , Find out how much to insure with all the mods on it , dont take the sellers word on insurance find out for your self .
4, My 110 V8 does about 9- 12 mpg , the last time i filled up with petrol it cost £75.00 for about 130 miles . I drive around town most of the time .
The least i have got is 89 miles for one tank of fuel but that was all off road .
Hope this helps .

Fost thing to look is wot you've already mentioned, the chassis and the bulkhead, then have another look at em then hit em with a hammer to re-double check em. Then have another look at em. Cos if they are on their way out it int worth 2 grand, an as far as I'm concerned it's only worth 2 grand if they are in absolutely excellent condition. And above all stop to think that yer buying a vehicle thats over 20 years old.

I'm not going far in it!! Just around town, got a car for actually going anywhere.

I'll get an insurance quote, I'm 30 next month (don't even....) so should be OK.

I will have a good old poke around at the chassis and bulkhead - this sounds odd but do people mind you poking at their chassis with a screwdriver? I know MOT testers are only allowed to use that poncy little hammer!!! Is waxoil hard like underseal? or can you tell if there is rot underneath it?

Also, this is going to sound daft, where is the bonnet catch!! I don't want to look a complete novice hahahaha - you know what I mean?

So many questions, Is it perm 4x4 or selectable? what do the levers (diff lock etc.) do?

Maybe I need a bit more study first :/

I know what you mean. I really just want a landy so I can take the top and doors off and drive my mates around for a laugh. Originally I just wanted a £500 junker, but thought it would be more hassle than its worth. SOOOooo I decided to spend around £2K so that it would be less hassle (not always the case I know).

Hit wiv an hammer as well, ask fost if he sez no then do a runner. It's mainly round the back damper an spring mounts, the outriggers front an rear, rear crossmembers, well owt from the rear outriggers backwards mainly. front bulkhead goes in the footwells, and where it meets the windscreen frame mainly around the screen mounting brackets or hinges. do a search for "buying a second hand 90". An if the galleries working look in mine under the bulkhead bit. But most of all remember your spending 2 grand on a twenty year old vehicle.

I don't know much about 90 prices, but 2K sounds a lot for a B reg, so I would expect it to be very good. The front wings & seats don't look very good, and would make me worry about the rest of it.

I'm starting to have doubts now. The fresh waxoil doesn't sound great, also not keen on a homebrew engine swap and disk conversion. hmmmmm. Might keep looking ;)

the bonnet catch is under the steering column just above the clutch and the gears and diff controls are self explantory .

oh yeah
can you buy me a 2 grand car fer a laugh please.
