Series 3 ignition pack seems to be full of fluid as its sealed I'm assuming that this is normal , am I correct in thinking this ?, I'm expecting thar its some sort of oil
If you mean the ignition coil, yes it should be full off oil. This helps the heat transfer from principally the primary winding to the can. It also acts as an insulator.
Make sure there is no seepage of oil from the HT terminal in the middle. The screw that holds this contact in place also is the point where oil was introduced in manufacture.
