Hi,

I am looking at getting hold of an International Certificate of Motor Vehicles (ICMV) mentioned on several overlander web sites I can't find who issues them. The AA and RAC are mentioned but i have called both and non of the people I have spoken about have a clue what I am talking about!
Does anyone have any experience with this or know where I can get one from?

Thanks,

Dave

Carnet de. Passage - another name for wot u are after.....good to have if u are planning an african trip

The carnet de passage is another document all-together. The ICMV is nothing more than the information on your V5 but in several different languages. It would be good if it was the Carnet though as:
'To take account of increased administrative costs for issuing IDPs and ICMVs, it is proposed to increase their fee by £1.50 to £5.50.'

A lot nicer than the several hundred the Carnet costs!

Sorted! I emailed both the AA and the RAC again, this time quoting the paper off the DVLA web site that says you can get them of them and The AA have responded with a phone number for the international department.
One quick call to them and they are posting out the application form to me.

For anyone else who needs it, the number is 01256 493806.

Dave
