So next installment , I decided to go with the original dash top but needed to extend the front panel ,

and had to bend the back over ,

then turned to the front surround I made this removable to make trimming easier . I'll trim over and round to the inside then fit the surround and bolt it in place from behind , so first with it tacked in place drill the holes ,

then cut round the inside ,

and remove the frame ,

then sand the heads down on some M5 bolts ,

and weld them in ,

then fully weld it up and give it a test fit ,

then make the cranked retaining tabs ,

and weld them in ,

and the frame cleaned up ,

got the side part welded in the center panel ,

I was hoping to be able to put a glove box in the passenger side but with modding the wipers there just wasn't room so a panel was needed but I'd decided that I wanted to retain the handle at the end of the dash , so came up with this ,

looks rough but when it's covered you won't see it , next a panel for the driver's side which after making a few different panels I settled on this ,

and to finish off , first up the vinyl I'm covering the dash with ,

there will be closed cell foam glued underneath this first , I'm not looking forward to doing the center console but I'll give it a go , and the bypass valve for the heater ,

so the heater can be fully turned off and the blower will blow cold air in the summer but retain the flow round the engine .
cheers Ian
