Eye ain't gottid time to make an automatic feeding fing for me squirrels. Ah dun't want to upset them by not puttin nuts out daily. Next best fing eye can do is put lots ov nuts out. But ah dun't want foxes or uvva animals nicking them. Ah can't take me squirrels wiv me. They may have little squirrels to look after. They would also do me head in when they start scrappin and chasing each uvva.

Yesdi eye fort about hanging a cloth bag int tree. Said bag would be full ov nuts. Enuff ferra week.

That gottid me finking some more. Today eye came up wiv the idea ov making a burd box and fillin it wiv a weeks wurf ov nuts. Two access oles so they dun't feel trapped. Purrit near where they climb me trellis.

Wot does yer fink?
Seems pretty sound. A large scale squizzle freindly feeder. No time for stuff to go oft. Why nut?

... my good deed for the day is completed. :)
I spotted an elderly lady across the road shuffling along and obviously in some difficulty.
She was hanging on to street furniture, walls, railings and cars as she slowly hobbled up the street. :(
I asked if she needed any help and she said yes please. I offered her my arm and we snail's pace walked up the street for some considerable distance in the pouring rain. She was outside number 26 and I had to slowly walk with her to number 160 which is quite a way up the hill. She was exhausted I think. Her house was a bit derelict and I had to walk backwards up a slope to get her to her back door (the front door being inaccessible and overgrown with shrubbery and brambles).
She admitted that in her hurry to post a letter before the post office closed she had forgotten her walking stick.
Her little poodle dogs were very pleased to see her. :)
I suspect a bit of dementia may have been involved (her, not me...you understand?).
Anyway the steady rain has soaked me through and my wife was upset that I had gone missing, and I got a telling off.
So truly....no good deed goes unpunished. :D
Just remember pal…the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Good on you for helping.

Morning All. :D
Today every ache & pain is visiting, serves me right for working on the mini I guess.
I have bought an old and probably fubared rocker pedestals & shaft assembly on e-bay (£12).
My thinking is to strip the shaft of the rockers and use it as a fulcrum point for a lever operated valve compressor next time.
It will probably work better than the tool I have at present.
Have a great day. :D

now THAT ... is a brilliant idea 🙂

Sounds very good, ifn you can't get a smaller one of the type you have got, I sincerely wish I could find that pic of mine which does work on Minis. :(
Just a thought, you said you found water/coolant in your cylinders, have you checked your oil for contamination or are you just pretty sure none got in from there?

I have not checked the oil yet. Need to do this. She fired up without issue and ran fine, but that's not the point really.
But I am not sure how looking at the dipstick will tell me anything as oil floats on water and the water will likely be at the bottom of the sump. I had thought that if it is just a 1-off dose of water it will just evaporate out with usage over time, but maybe I am wrong. I did find that only Cyl3 (my dirty plug cylinder) got any water in it after the studs were undone to remove the rocker shaft. When I did Cyl 2 the next day the ropes had dried out and they picked up no moisture in Cyl2.

Been for a swim in the pool a couple of times daily this week. Except yesterday, took a splash in the morning only as the kiddy section got taped off and the p.a announced a tile had come loose so pool out of action. Back in use this morning without a visit from a repair man. I suspect a different cause 🫘

Was there a strange purple plume in the water following you up and down? 🤔

Water in oil will raise the level on the stick, or if driven up to temps will start to show the "mayo" in the oil filler cap.
If it was only on number 3 and thats the 1 giving concern maybe something else is going on in that cylinder/head gasket area.

Guess he could do a compression test to eliminate it, or not.

I thought Dan did that? if so then another may give a comparison.
If you dont lose coolant then why suspect it? if some got in number 3 but not others maybe needs monitoring.

I would just blat it around with a big grin on me face :p.

Well i wouldnt here cos it would kill my back, I will stick to the RR ;)

...that I am happy now I have repaired all the stats that weren't working, bar the one that got heated! Although even that one might still be repairable with a new capacitor and relay, and a bit of work on the PCB.
So I have now repaired 8 plus one that was not working completely right.
I made sure I measured the capacitance of the ones I took off, most had gone down from 47 mF to about 20-21. The one that was only just about working had gone down to 23.3 mF. so it interesting what the margin is.
So I now have spares as I had already replaced 2 with the expensive (€58) ones, and bought in a cheaper more basic one, that I have tested and works too.
I feel this is the biggest achievement of my time over here this year.
And all down to an old thread on a Frog electronics forum!!

I wouldn't say I am now a skilled solderer on PCBs but I have got a heck of a lot better. The biggest problem was one soldering point at one end of each capacitor which is possibly just less than 1mm from another track. I think the blown one came about because I strayed into the track even though I did try to clean it up. Also bits of track lifting from the PCB.

So loadsa money saved. Love it!!
Just got to put them all back on the walls in the rooms etc and clear up my workstation.
Enjoy the rest of the arvo folks, it's 31 in the shade over here.
