The Sweeney was my favourite of the police series when I was young because the others seemed rather insipid by comparison. Softly Softly and its successor, Barlow involved far to much talking for my liking. Z Cars seemed to be preoccupied with trivia. The Sweeney by contrast, generally began with a well-staged bank robbery and the episode unfolded with a good measure of car chases and fist fights, interspersed with snivelling informers uttering 'I don't want no bovver Mr. Regan'. They must have been allowed quite a big budget, because they destroyed a lot of cars, sometimes two or three Mk II Jags per episode. It looks extraordinary now - the fact that the London streets along which they raced were nearly empty and it was possible to get the cars anywhere above walking pace.
I seem to remember it was made in the 70s, and at the time I was living in the seedier part of W2 much closer to Notting Hill Gate than Hyde Park! And we uised to reckon that they did a lot of the filming round there.
But as for Mk2 Jags, they were quite cheap at the time. I bought a Mk1 2.4 for £5 and flogged it to a scrappie for £10 and thought I had done well!
Every Sweeney episode was watched rligiously by me and my flatmates.

Lot more ladies in a state of undress in the progs than you'd ever see nowadays, or rather in a lot more revealing state of undress! Remember the German helmet?
Great fun, we have them all on DVD!

I believe the follow up was called "Taskforce" and it appears all of the episodes survive unlike Softly Sofly where loads have disappeared, sadly. ('Cording to Wiki)

How the Brummagum mail can get things wrong.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are not in "Dorset" anymore they are a separate unitary authority.
So any tourist taxes they charge will not be applied elsewhere in Dorset.
Not that £2 a night will put anyone off.

You can see why we no longer want to be there or elsewhere in Doirset during the summer!!

Origional video from when they launched the heap.

Still think the Disco 1 is one of, if not the best vehicle they ever made.
And is it true or not that at the time it saved LR?
Or is that just an urban myth?
Last of the non-electronic (auto being the exception) 4x4s.
I intend to keep mine for as long as I can drive.
After that @kevstar can have my V8!;):)

Each model that came oot helped lr grow. They needed to sell more to fund development. The big change came when the FL came oot as sales took oft massively. When the big FL came oot in 1970 sales were reasonable but no where near todays figures. Same fer disco. New owners to the brand bring in wider sales options. Same wiv disco, FL, evoque etc.

Yer only got to add one match to increase the number. But which option produces the highest number.

Yes, I can read, but did you look at all the comments? hundreds of.
As someone pointed out, does 1 match make the number "1" or does it have to be 2 matches?
Not answered cos no one knows.
So at least two possible maximum numbers there, for a start!

Slow day today.
Weather has been kinda cancelled, high pressure gloom, but at least it isn't raining.
Spent the day doing paperwork and hunting for papers which I think must be in the UK, relating to harassment of us and opposite neighbours, by yet a third neighbour, back in Blighty.
Was hoping to find it so that I could contact the plod already involved to tell him about her harassing our daughter when she went to our place on Thursdi. It is getting to the point where we are going to have to consider taking out an injunction against her and her husband. What a state of affairs.
I know I came across the paperwork recently and thought I had brought it with me to here, must have actually found it just before we left. So wasted a ton of time searching.
Also had to do other stuff and still have one more big task to do.
Hate it, right pain.
Hope all others are having fun!
