Lobster was also a poor man's food too.+1 cannot stand Offal. Used to be cheap food for poor folk.
My Stepmother used to serve up liver & bacon every Thursday, like every savoury she cooked it was overdone and her cooked liver was all powdery.
But strangely, down here in Essex poor folks food was Oysters, (now associated with the wealthy) go figure.

Now where you hear "not oyster and lobster again mummy" is usually coming out the mouth of people called Monty and Fifi. The posh kids at boarding school where precious mummy doesn't work and daddy is so busy trying to rail the waitress at the golf club.
When I lived in Dunbar in the 80s my mates who owned creel/trawler boats would leave lobsters/crabs/queenies and langoustine at the back door as I gave them tropical fish and equipment at cost price and yes I swapped to family and friends for a decent bottle of wine theres only so much you can do with half a fertiliser sack of langustines lol..Lobster was also a poor man's food too.

We all know what boys get up to in Boarding School you don't Have to tell us JonAt my "posh" boarding school there were no gurlz and there were more boys called Nigel or John than you could shake a stick at!
(Mum was a doc and Dad didn't go to a golf club, if he did he'd have got thrown out, and NOT for trying to rail anyone either, just for being too northern!!!)
