@WhiskyLassie on the way to the Clansman

While I was working on my Bonneville engine yesterday I noticed one of the camshaft bearings is shot. Its a phosphor bronze bush about an inch long and 7/8 inch bore, set into a blind hole. The tools needed to get it out (as per the workshop manual) are pricey, if you can find some, and doing the job "their"way can easily wreck the motor if it is not done with skill and care. So this morning I resorted to an old skool back street workshop method - cut some longitudinal slots in the bush with half a hacksaw blade (with the precision of a jeweller and care of a denterist), and collapsed the bush with some gentle prodding with a light hammer and screwdriver. Job done . New bush ordered and on the way -----.
