You can get it in the UK I believe it comes from Sweden internet search should find the company's doing it over here it is common but expensive but a lot better than the galvanised rubbish that rots out in 2 years and plastic that breaks with the weight of snow plus the older it gets the better it looks πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

We have cast iron gutters and that is what's on my planning for the garage, never see copper gutters. My high school had the choice of a swimming pool or a copper covered roof. Yer they got a copper roof.

Wow lots of answers needed all in one post.
Yes Gout can be caused by excessive red wine (and Port) consumption, among other things. Used to be known as "the rich man's disease".
@kevstar I will put a pic up tomorrow when I next open the trapdoor.
@landowner why not go the whole hog and buy a little 12v inverter for 240v 50hz output and put a whole string of Xmas LED lights in and have all permutations of "flashing/sequencing" available? Inverters are cheap on e-bay as are the XMAs LED lights.

Hi all.
Funny day, sort of.
Got up a bit late eventually had a quick look over W's Pluriel as it was off to its MOT just after lunch. Should have done it earlier.
Rear fog light not functioning and one of the two number plate lights.
Got the light cluster off, (which involves removing the gas ram from the lower boot lid, two bolts and two prongy type clip things). The bulb looked OK but lots of corrosion from water.
Took the bulb indoors and tested it, it was OK, so cleaned it up with wire brush, back to the car, bulb holder looked very manky, scraped muck away from the central contact but the side one...wasn't there. Well mostly!
Time was beginning to be pressing now, so I whipped the reversing lamp holder out of the other side. (Same pain in the backside to remove. ) Took it to the other side, of course the Frog "minkies" who designed the car did it so that the two bulb holders could not fit in each other's hole. Which is weird considering that the cars are made for both left and right hand drive, (maybe it is down to just the colours of the "glass" and the wiring.) So Stan the Bodger stepped up, the plug fitted, just and the light lit up when it should so I had to bodge the holder into the hole. Insulating tape did that.

Then I turned my attention to the number plate lamp. I got the little sliver of clear plastic off, could sort of feel the bulb, a w5w number, but my fingers even with rubber gloves on just wouldn't extract it, so I begrudgingly left it, knowing it wasn't a fail due to the other one still working.
Anyway the fog light held, car passed with a few advisories, nothing unexpected, really, things like the two rear tyres, two front discs, which I think I have new in store, a couple of slightly discoloured indicator bulbs, a rusty spring  and I was informed, orally, to replace the wiper blades, which was decent of him cos I think if he'd made it official it would have been a fail. As usual, the blades seemed fine to me. They work OK, aren't fraying or owt.

Traffic stinks. I left half an hour to do a 15 minute journey, thanks to roadworks got there exactly on time. speed limits are now 30 mph all the way except for a short stretch of dual carriageway which is 40 mph and that lasts about 3 heartbeats.
Still had a good bit of banter with the older mech who works there and others. You know you are loved when you walk in for the first time in 6 months and the mech greets you with "Flip off!" and a big grin!

Sleep well folks!
:):):)

Whats the cure then? I got it in me big toe πŸ˜•
See the gp, lay it on really thick and get on to allopurinol. You must be gout-free for a month before you start. Until then, paracetamol & codeine with ibuprofen will take the edge off it. My problem is that I can’t use ibuprofen tablets because I’m on chemotherapy and the combo isn’t good.
My brother has been on allopurinol for a decade and it has made life very much easier for him.

Give the wiper rubbers a wipe with a damp cloth, surprising how much muck comes off. And wash the windscreen before the MOT.
