...online retailer has e-mailed with exciting news!!!
Our new dining room chairs (qty(1)?) are being delivered next week to an address that is a total mish-mash of our actual address.
It is all a bit off-putting because the Qty (1) should say Set of 4 chairs qty(1).
They have swapped the town for the county and have the street & number twice.
How do these people mangle to mangle such simple stuff?
You need an easy-to-remember address like this:
Pottage Cottage
Pleasant Crescent
Fawcett
Dorset

and a lickle prize to anyone who remembers which show that came from as I am not entirely sure!

If I'd had to put money on it I was pretty sure you would recommend DELL so this is not a surprise.
I'll give it a bunch of lookerin at.

From a shop too. Grr! But it works and I can do what I want on it, but I can switch it on, go and eat a 4 course meal, come back to it and it still hasn't all "come up".

Download Malwarebytes and run it to clean your bloatware off

And for everyone's info so they can narrow down their thinking:
Yes, lots of photos, and I modify them with iPhotoplus.
quite a lot of documents,
need to do the odd spreadsheet, like to have two up at once,
NO gaming or Livestreaming,
Do prefer Windows as even though it has its foibles I seem to be able to use it quite well.

That's about it really.
But I'll say that and then in 10 minutes I'll think of other stuff.

I love my Samsung Notebook but it is falling apart physically, no working keyboard and bits around the screen falling off, plus if I am not careful the plug, which I have to tape in place, either comes out or connects badly, and as the battery has a life in nanoseconds.....

Mind you I am typing this on my Acer Aspire piece of poop, whose batt is completely dead, bought during Covid for £250 secondhand. From a shop too. Grr! But it works and I can do what I want on it, but I can switch it on, go and eat a 4 course meal, come back to it and it still hasn't all "come up".
Mind, me being me, that might be all my fault. I don't remember it being that slow on start up when I first got it and I haven't loaded any "apps" on it.
Hey ho!
Have you defragged it??

After yesterday's Ophthalmologist appointment and the emptying of my wallet I came home and ordered some "readers".
Opticianista fella recommended I get some +2.75 readers for working at my PC etc.
I bought a pair from an online shop yesterday PM. They arrived this morning by post.
Ruddy marvellous! Rimless lenses, and really comfortable. All for <£20 incl delivery and in a soft protective case.
Very impressed I am. www.tigerspecs.co.uk
I've got a pair of vari on the way after I felt my far vision was unsatisfactory, tickly when driving. I gots stigmatism, chap says my sight would be carp without it..
Have been using Cedarvision readers oft the Zoon for wuk etc. and will continue I think, cheap as chips. Will take a look at those though, cheers.

Have you defragged it??
Depends how fragged it is..

I've just been "told" what my combined Xmas and special birthday (70) present is going to be from W.
A new lappy.
Up to £1000.
But I have to choose it.
And I know flip all about them really. (Have only ever bought one which was secondhand and a rubbish one it turned out to be at that, it all works, except the batt is ...as a doornail and it is so slow it makes a snail look like a Ferrari, on startup anyway. It's an Acer thingy, not in the same room and CBA to get up and go and look at the make.)
All suggestions gratefully received and yes, thanks again, to at least one person who mentioned ones a while back.
I think she wants me to get a "good one that'll see me out".

Have contacted and sent pics to two plumbers so that they can quote etc.
Weather dry and fairly bright.
W off to have a capped tooth recapped, poor thing.
Have a good arternoon folks!
:) :) :)

Ive got an MSI lappy might be a bit overkill for what you need, same manufacture mine was a tad more than a grand (shhhh) somit like this will be more than capable for what you need.............
Ive usually got 10 windows open all the time, 1 or 2 will be youtube.

Super organised omg, I used to do all my shopping in Christmas eve in Paddys market & the barras 🤣

Got some hot deals 🤣🤣
I had an Irish lodger once, a great bloke who is now a super brainy lecturer in engineering in Trinity Uni in Dublin.
But he was in his early twenties when I knew him. He told me that on Christmas Eve in Dublin the dads would all do their Christmas shopping then go to the pub, till closing time.
According to him many, many got so Brahms and Lizt that the pub floors at the end of the evening was full of forgotten carrier bags full of toys etc! :(

Never known a pikey lecturer 🤣 🤣 To b sure to b sure !!!

Ditto. Since my first Ipod insisted it took control of all my song files on my PC some twenny five years ago, I wont touch Apple.
I just can't stand the way they ripped off W when her, not very old, iPad decided to no longer charge the batt. Or run, with the cable attached. In the Apple shop they said it was the charging interface, "couldn't" repair it but would sell her a new one a bit cheaper. IF she gave them the non-working one back. She would have won a Consumer protection law case but she wouldn't do it as, like probably anyone else in her position, she "had to have "it working.
Also that they keep "updating" the models and so many peeps by the latest ones. AND they are SO expensive.

Thanks for this. Sadly the linky went odd so I cannot open it.
I think I managed to find it, this one? MSI Katana 17 inch FHD gaming laptop?

Right well thanks for this info peeps!
Food for thought.:(:(:(

Got my first quote for changing the stop-cock. £106 plus VAT.
For Flip's sake! The most expensive trad one which would be a like for like replacement is only 15 sovs.
How long would a pro take to fit one?
This is the access.

i.e it comes out of the floor and into the bottom of the cupboard in the unit under the sink.

@brianp38dse any chance of an idea of whether this is a fair price, please?

I'll pay it if I have too, but through very gritted teeth.

And this guy was recommended on Nextdoor!:(:(:(

Justa thought, but, iffn it's a BS1010 then the face to face dimension of the new valve should be the same as this one. Can't you you just loosen the nuts, flex the top pipe up a bit and exchange them. New valve would be less than a tenner..

Have a nice day folks
