Yep, and the grapes were very nearly due to be harvested. Some vineyards lost 100%. Terrible reading in the local press.

Could they have damaged your tiles anorl? Not cracked propper initially but a non split crack that later broke'd them.
Yes, that was one thing we thought about and I deffo think one in particular was damaged that way, but the amount of damage was so localised, just one part of one side of a roof that we don't think so, and nor do the peeps who sell the tiles.
The damage to our tiles has been mostly an edge that rests on the flat bit of the next tile. This has flaked away as if the tile was never made hard enough and where it sits in water for just a fraction of time, it is as if it has been too porous and reacted badly. They are intended to be porous.
So this is nothing to do with impact damage.
But there are others where the damage was on upper surfaces and those deffo could have been down to hail, but again in a massively localised area.
It is absolutely a mystery which is why people we have discussed it with think it is more likely to have been a bad job lot.
The one where it is obvious looks as if a very heavy weight has hit it, like a hammer or summat, it din't break the tile in two or crack a piece off including an edge, the impact made a piece from that spot break off leaving a hole.
I'd have to put pics up and frankly unless people express an interest I can't imagine they'd want to see them!
This video, although in French, shows what the hailstorms are like and then the guy explains how when a bunch of grapes is damaged, then it starts to rot and each grape touching others leads to them rotting too.
About 20 vineyards were hit like this or worse. The hailstorm only lasted 20 mins but that is all it took.

There's an AEC Matador for sale on Ebay. Nobody's bid on it yet and it has a very reasonable starting price.
Oh my God I'm tempted. Realistically, I don't need that sort of headache in my life at the moment. Just the logistical challenge of getting it from the vendor to somewhere where I can work on it to begin with, let alone the process of sourcing parts, getting the engine to turn over and the brakes to hold air. Even so, It's a massive effort of will to resist the temptation.

At a recent meds review with my GP practice they could give me no real reason for the medications they prescribe other than "you have had a heart-attack and it's a protocol we follow."
The first & last heart-attack/incident was 17 years ago.
In 2002 a full stress test of my ticker showed a Left Ventricle Ejection Factor of 69% which is that of a healthy heart for my age group.
The NNT & NNH figures for all of the medications illustrate to me that they provide no real benefit but all of them have side-effects. My BP was always pretty low for a bloke my age and on the meds is almost through the floor at 93/58 @ 68BPM.
So I have decided to take none of them and we shall see if I expire in the near future.
My BP is now near normal (121/76 @ 80bpm this morning) for my age & mileage and I don't feel so lethargic and tired.
My smart-watch reports my average heart rate to be 77bpm when awake and 53 when asleep.
Q. Am I bonkers?
PS: No flowers, just bottles of alcohol.

I don't take any tablets but doctor asked me a few years ago if I wanted blood thinning tablets ??
I declined, I think he was just trying to promote the tablets
I'm still here at 76 and a half and still active in all areas

I've always liked the AEC Matador. I was saving up to buy one a few years ago but as a result of a couple of windfalls I rather overshot my savings target and bought some land instead. I got as far as buying a manual and a Whit/BSF socket set, and having a couple of phone conversations with people selling them but then the process of shopping for land took over. However, the desire has never entirely left me. . . .....and you really would like to have a dabble.

Water day (long enough to build pressure for showers) so we don't stink, figured it was safe to come on and update. Enough to do the dishwasher which was full so at least we have some clean mugs and plates now
Last couple of days have been cooler with drizzle, some rain showers. Nowhere near enough but at least the crops will get some water to suck up. So working in the mid to high 20s is a nice relief. Set to go to low 20s and absoulutly chcking it down at the weekend

Pool is low and have had to change inlet to the circ pump to the drain and turn off the skimmer inlet.
Some sort of bike enduro weekend going on starting at the next village down (where the shop is) 65km first day then 35next day.
Which sounds like the first day they do a loop and end up at the start, the second day they end up at the same beach as the rally. they will probably take the same route to the beach on the first day, we know lots of good spots to view so may pop out and have a gander. If its not chucking it down of course, but it will be fun cos the ground is defiantly softer under wheel than it was last week.
Working away in the rear porch today was bliss in the present temps and the shower after was,can I say orgasmic Really nice.
Lent the mini digger to a friend today, think he picked the wrong day to be mini diggering. (no cab).

That's really bad news and am sure it will lead to a hard year ahead.
Have noticed (in the local gardens) that the grapes/other fruit are not as plump as they could be, maybe our latest drizzle/rain will help them plump up. Cos there are acres of them around here.
I am also sure it will affect the value of French 2024 wine. Get in early Stan

I think your country or at least you area must have had a different year of rain compared to France. Here everything is ripening early or on time. Our apples were early.That's really bad news and am sure it will lead to a hard year ahead.

We have visits to three vineyards planned to top up our stock. Nothing unusual there. We know that in bad years the cheap wine is not so freely available, one year cheapish whites couldn't be had for love nor money, they put all the grapes they have into making the more expensive stuff. Makes sense really.
