Well today a I bought a Qilive cable thing to try and connect my phone to my lappy via the USB ont lappy and the plug ont phone.
Samsung 3 5099y.
Tis all plugged in but the lappy doesn't "see" the data folders, although it can do it from my camera and my dash cam.
Back to the flipping drawing board yet again.
Bizzarely I searched around on "Settings" and it seemed to say there was some way I could connect to it wirelessly!
Trust me to have to spend dosh uselessly to find this.
I am so dumb when it comes to tech. :(

And yes it is a "sync" connector.
Issit a data cable or a power cable. Power cable dun't have as many wires inside. When connected swipe down to see iffit gives yer options. Charge only or file transfer.

I flipped about on the pooter to get to the bit where it says "connect new devices" and it searched for it and said it didn't find it.

The thing on the card says "USB-C (then underneath) SYNC (then underneath) MICRO-USB. I did ask the bloke in the shop for one that was NOT for charging but was to transfer data from my phone to my pooter.

I looked on the phone as best I could, which ain't great admittedly, I know I said "Samsung" it ain't that's my lappy in fact it is an Alcatel 3 summat 5099y Soz, my mistake.
I have looked under "network and connections" and not found anything , just noticed it says "usb not connected" although both ends are connected. Lappy still says "device not found" so I fink the blokey in the Auchan dept has not much clue.
would love to know why it has "Sync" on the card it's mounted to.

I'm not giving up, I'll try and find another cable that should work better and meanwhile explore the other stuff I have just found and heard about. The phone does have blue tooth capability, I have just never tried it. I'll have to see if the lappy does.

Right bluetooth on the lappy has picked up W's iPad but not my phone. On the phone it says "Bluetooth not connected" although I slid the button to the right and it has gone to blue in colour which to me means it 's on.

Having now touched the "bluetooth " words on the phone screen it suddenly is conencted to my laptop!
Whooppee!!

Now all I have to do is to find out how to use this.
See yez all later!

I do and have done in the Timpson branch near me who will print them in their little machine ...
Dippypud, you are an ANGEL!
After a lot of mucking about, and more "clicking" on both phone and lappy, and a couple of failures to make a connection, I NOW have it working and have just transferred a pic!
So thank you very much indeed.

Waiting for it to transfer was like watching paint dry but still, it did it, so for the very rare occasions when I want to do it I now have a way of doing so.

I can feel myself being dragged into the 21st century!

thanks again!

Yes they just needed recommissioning, from what I gather. But it is all the more surprising because classic cars in France go for about twice the price they go for in the UK. I thought of buying one over here but there aren't many I feel would justify the price. I'd like to have one just to run around in over the 6 months we spend here, but we don't have a garage.....
I'd be quite happy with an old Renault 5 or something like it, a Citroen Dyane would be good as they are much, much cheaper than the well-overpriced 2CV. It would save us having to cart W's Citroen Pluriel back and forth.
I don't know what country you ar in but the mention of a Santana make me think eSpain.

A and B series engines are not that hard to get hold of I would have thought and the B series in a Marina is not as good as one from an MGB as the crank isn't so strong.
My Marlin Roadster is a Marina based kit although the suspension is radically altered. As it only has a 4 speed box I'd really like to change it for an MGB so I could replace both engine and box and get MOD. @kevstar 's one had that I think. Quite a few surprisingly built them with the A series engine, and then tuned them, couldn't see the point myself!
But the Pinto 2000 (and maybe the 1600) engines are the sought after ones, and I have one spare plus another cylinder head for if I ever get chance to play!
Yes I can see the Marina suspension needing modifying if the kit is based on those parts as well, there were some poor compromises in the design. Hope your base wasn't one with lever shock absorbers ;)

Second hand cars classic or not tend to be more expensive in Spain and Portugal as well.

The Santana was in Spain. I started a thread with some photos of it a while back and found some more recently, must add them. Long story but I regret selling it really.

I have also tried importing a car into Portugal and the cost was pretty prohibitive, especially since it was only worth about £200. Ultimately I couldn't get it through the MOT, nothing wrong with it except emissions 0.05% over on fast idle and couldn't get it lower which in the end may have been a problem with the exhaust. Then it broke down in Seville and because the MOT had expired I couldn't get it recovered...

The suspension was modifed by removing the lever arm suspension and replacing it with the upper A-arm type thing from a Mini, a separate adjustable Spax shock was fitted. The lower torsion bar is retained and great for adjustment.
At the rear the shock mounting plates were turned over and swapped from side to side so that the shocks acted inwards. Again Spax adjustables.
I did buy a set of anti-tramp bars and a Panhard rod specially made by the company to fit, but have yet to get around to fitting them. But once on apparently they make the back end incredibly good.
I don't understand how not having an MOT meant it couldn't be recovered. Surely if they put it on a low loader it could have been in any condition? Someone must have moved it from where it broke down?!
Always thought a Santana would have been nice, not surprised you regret getting rid.
The now sadly deceased @Shippers had a nightmare trying to get his 101FC on the road, legally in Portugal.
