Morning all. Made the mistake of looking at Faecesbook this morning to find someone moaning and dribbling about the church bells. I’m a complete atheist but a great supporter of this wonderful sound. I may have been a trifle cruel in my reply but hey, the idiot deserved it.
The village I come from a out sider built a house opposite the church and promptly had the church's clock stoped from chiming and confetti band at weddings due to it blowing on his drive and muffled the bells with padding 😠😠😠😠

OK, I am clearly a worktop nerd/geek/freak. :)
I gave the whole lot a good oiling last night and today I have sanded it (240 grit) and oiled it again.
It is so much smoother to the touch (having spiked up after the oiling). :)
Next one will be a 320 grit, and another oiling. Then I will leave it alone for a while and see how it performs.
Herself keeps saying how much she really likes it so I am in credit on the brownie-points balance. :D

Me problem of magpies hanging oft me squirrel proof burd feeder has bin solved eye fink. Eye hung a metal hanging basket under it. Goes up the side of the feeder cage by an inch or two depending on angle as the burds sometimes land onnit. Tis about 3 inches widerer each side so it gets int way of magpies hanging around the bottom of me feeder. Sat int kitchen catching up on ere. Feeder is busy. Nearly empty again. Avving to fillit up every 3 days.

I love the peace and quiet of Buttermere. I wish I could attach a video. Just after this an F35 went blasting over. I saw about six of them as I came down the side of the lake from Fleetwith Pike. I stuck it on Youtube.

I was told a few years ago by the chap that repaired the dash issue that was causing my 06 Focus to go into limp mode that much of the issue was the EU ruled that makers should use no or low lead solder in their production.
After a number of years mostly the naughty,s rules were changed.
Lead free solder requires a slightly higher temp than solder wiv lead innit. Industry has bin using lead free for nearly 30 years. A lot is blamed onnit but fink of the complexity of computers. All soldered lead free. Its ok to use if done properly.

Eye once fixed a focus dash. Solder joint fractured and came away from the pcb.

Just watched this video, so many questions.......
What is the liquid he used when cleaning it? Probably normal pcb cleaner.
What is the cloudy liquid in the syringe that he made two lines with? Liquid flux so he could resolder the two rows ov pins. Flux helps solder flow and cleans the joint during soldering.
What was the first tool he used? A hot air gun. Used to melt solder. Not the ideal device to use as they tend to pump oot air which is too hot and indiscriminate where it goes. Yer can blister a pcb if yer leave it in the same location fer too long. Not somefink yerd use in production for this task. He used it to reflow the solder joints on all the chips after putting liquid flux on them. Chips have temp limits for soldering and more likely to fail when heated too many times. It would be called hit n hope in nooker.
And what was he sodlering in two lines? They were the pins to a connector on t'other side of the pcb. Probably wiring harness connector.
What damage did he see, as it isn't shown? Nowt. He cleaned the board then reheated all the chip legs in the hope one or more joints were causing a problem. Yer can see if the joints are a problem by looking at the soldering wiv an inspection camera. Solder flows using surface tension when heat is applied. Where a pin oft a chip connects to the copper pad yer gerra heal in the solder. At the end of the pin yer gerra toe. If the toe is there then the heal normally is anorl. The heal is what yer hoping for. The shape of the soldering tells yer iffit flowed correctly. To do so the correct heat is needed as well as clean pads. Pads oxidise over time. Same fer pins. It can introduce problems into soldering as the surface ain't clean.

You can buy "things" that are powered by a blank .22 cartridge. No need for a licence, at least that was the situation a few years ago. My ex son in law had and still has a lot of woods on his land. He put them in triggered by tripwires to scare the scrotes off his property. I'll have a dig and see if you can still get 'em.
Well you can still use them, according to this, which is SO boring to read through although there are interesting parts.
Also seems to say that you can buy shotgun cartridges without a shotgun licence but then maybe not, in the same para. Very confusing!
