You'll struggle to get (damp) sand in through a small hole. Kiln dried sand would be ok though. Pea gravel will flow in easily, wet or dry.
Cool 'ere but the sun is trying its best to brighten it up. On with the pond clearing again today ....... and some weeding.

Weather has been glorious today: sunny, warm etc.
I bin emptying out the shed to get some stuff to make a hoist so I can get the tiles up to the roof and the old ones down again intact so it won't be so hard to take them down the dump cleanly.
During my peregrinations in said shed I found the bucket with the barbelldy wire and sitting on top of the roll, grinning at me, was an ickle bucket with "crampillons" in!! Typical! Told myself they'd be there, just couldn't see the bucket until today. (Hidden under the BBQ which we still have yet to get out, wot with the weather an orl.)
So off to the toon to buy rope and pulleys for aforesaid porpoise.
Came back to find W struggling to finish the bit of garden prep she was doing inside the ex-raspberry cage. So I stopped what I was doing and helped her with the weed preventer materiel. She still isn't wel poor thing.

Nice Council roofing contractors have finished for the day, been working on the bungalows opposite my drum, purpose built for disabled access back in the 70's, now in dire need of a new hat ...
they've left five 2x4's in their skip, so I've rescued four of them ... nice 10' long planed timber, a bit knotty on one, a split starting on another, but I'm only gonna rebuild my raised garden beds so it'll do me
