Eye has bort meself some mice traps. Eye was against it but somefink is eating me hedgehog food and eye fink its the mouse eye has seen running across me patio previously. Eye has put em inside me feeding box. Said box is up against the wall so hedgehogs can't gerrin. Tis blocking oft the hole in the box so only little fings can gerrin.

Get a cat, put a catflap on the garage so he can cuddle with your hippo at night.

Hummmm do you want me to send you 1πŸ€”.

so we went to the "vide grenier" in Soreze, today. (glorified car boot all over the town).
It's usually good, (this is the first time it has been held since Covid) but an hour's drive each way in a non air-conditioned car. Temps extremely high today.
Bought a few things, two crotcheted fings that W can put on the buffet/sideboard to protect the polished wood from the "objets d'art" that she will decorate it with. .5 €
A glass jug for wine to replace the two hand made ones we have but whose handles risk coming off, (amazing how many hand made jugs end up this way in our house, and we are very careful with them). €2
An American author's crime fiction paperback translated into French, I started reading out the back of the flyleaf to W in French with a fake American accent, much to the amusement of the lady stall holders. W told me I ought to get it and as I said to the ladies, it'll help me keep in practice. €1. W then held up two books "English grammar" and "the English verb" as if I needed them. again, guffaws all round.
But the prize purchase of the day was a steak hammer, in stainless steel with one smooth side and one with the usual double corrugations on. We have been looking for one like this for years, we have one in the UK that W bought in the US but have not been able to find another. A bargain at €10.
So a glass of rosΓ© then back home. Still sweltering.
I am enjoying a Suze and Tonic while W is having a White wine Spritzer, (A drink the french cannot comprehend) before we think it might be cool enough to prepare the salad which apparently will pass for dinner. :( (Ah laak 'ot dinna , me!:()
Enjoy the rest of the evening folks!

Depends what you call an antique. The french are very good at knowing the value of stuff.
The jug we bought I had a close look at and ..... It is made by IKEA and cannot be suject to more than 50 degs C so that flips it off for the dishwasher!!;)
There was quite a nice mechanical watch, half the strap missing (who cares) the crystal, face and hands were unmarked, only 17 jewels but running, the wimmins wanted €45 for it. A fair price prolly. But not a make that I recognised, which doesn't mean a lot as each country has its own separate makes. At least the crystal fitted properly. I bought one at a brocante a year or two back which was a "bitsa" and the crystal moves if you push it around. At least it goes!
As we go to these things quite a bit, but not so much as we used to, we noticed that there were far fewer antique oil lamps for sale and none that we would have wanted even if we didn't have as many as we have.
The alternatives are a "brocante" which is where antique dealers park themselves on a sort of market, but still try to charge a lot or farm out their sub standard cr@p or of course a pukka antique shop where you pay totally through the nose.

+1 on the peanut butter this was the only thing that worked donks ago in a flat me and a load of mates rented in Lunnen. We'd set the trap, in the kitchen, go back into the lounge, no sooner had out butts touched the seats when "Clack " another one bit the dust! :):):)
