Firstly I have no idea what all that is. We don't really want TV over here, strange though that may sound. Also until extremely recently, if you had any sort of an aerial or sat dish you would be charged the going rate for watching TV i.e. €120. No matter which sat it was pointed at.
The law has changed recently, or is about to change, on this so that no Frog peeps has to pay this anymore, at which point we could if we wished have anything as long as it didn't break planning.
If it wasn't for the flipping coronation we wouldn't be doing anything about this.
W has a thing about it cos her dad bought the only TV in the street back at the last one so she wants to have watched two coronations. I'm 8 years younger than 'er so never saw the fust one, and don't frankly care. But I do indulge her, cos it hurts not to.;)
A vpn is a tunnel used fer security. Yer online stuff goes through a server at the end of the tunnel. It makes yer more secure online as hackers cant see yer. They can only see the server at the other end.

Coronation will be shown live on youtube on loads of channels. On the day search fer 'live coronation' and yer'll find it. If yer want to watch on the bbc it wont alloy as yer norrin the uk. Sky etc will be showing it world wide on youtube.

We aren't using a VPN. W tried to get onto one and hasn't managed it yet.
So these are the readings without a VPN.
At least I think so. Maybe it has connected in the background.:eek:
Once you are on a VPN can you not change between being on it and not?
I personally don't want anything to do with it, I use a laptop and all is over WiFi to the Livebox.
W wanted it so she could watch the blessed coronation. on her iPad.
So what are the dangers of using a VPN then?
And what is the issue with our ip address? We pay our bills to Orange/Sosh and are not trying to do anything dodgy, at least I hope so.
God I HATE tech.
I'll have to have serious words with her in the a.m. at this rate.
If you are streaming from the UK the vpn hides your locations so you will not have your channels blocked by the BBC even if you have a tv license you are not allowed to have uk tv out side the UK I would think at your location you are in the foot print for Sat reception of UK tv a few years past the BBC changed their sat beam to a spot beam over the UK only lf you remember all the x pats in Spain were moaning their are lots of ways round it but if you are in the UK you can pick up most European tv with the correct set up.you have to program your router to the vpn some allow this some don't

Only liking this cos of the roolz. Never realised you were that bad mate.
Big sympathies.😢
and STILL you are expected to go over to son's place to do DIY?????
FFS!!!
Thanks. It is what it is. I am fully mobile, but I just have no leg strength. If the servo on the car's brakes fails I'm a dead-man. LOL.
It is all since I overdid it one afternoon at my youngest's and shovelled/barrowed & lifted 4 tons of Type-1 in a couple of hours.
Everything went haywire after that. C'est-la-vie! :)

Who would charge you?...you can stick it in the back garden and point it in the right direction...you say you dont want tv but spend time down loading to store to watch...
I was unclear maybe. I said "We don't really want TV over here", cos "over here" it's carp. Have you ever watched Frog TV?
Anyway it's all academic as I said, about being charged. But previously, under French law you could be charged just for having equipment capable of receiving a TV signal, any signal, and what's worse the Frog poliss had the right to enter your property to search. so we are/were very careful and bought an F off big monitor to watch DVDs and the Humax box was techincally a bit risky.

(Also, don't tell W but we waste enough time watching stuff over in the UK without doing it over here too.!! )

Thanks for the tips.
I think W has just signed up to Apple something or other at roughly 16 sovs a month so that may be it. She is in bed with a stinking cold so I only know this cos the notification came through here on my lappy email.
I'll ask her in a mo.
But I had already told her that you said about youtube.
I get the idea, cos she told me, that a VPN is like having a virtual address elsewhere, so I kinda got that your real ip address would be hidden. But that was where my understanding, and I have to confess, interest, ended.
I am far more concerned at the rubbish speed we get.
But thanks for all the explanations.

No, don't be sorry, this makes stuff yet clearer.
I do remember that about the Beeb moving their sat (beam) as our Brit neighbours moaned abaout it until they sorted it somehow. We are a long way south in France. In the Montagne Noire. We do have a wok on the roof, in the UK, we got it so that W could watch frog TV to try and improve her French, it was a rotating one, but it got busted (my fault, I rotated it too far and it hit the gable end and got stuck, busted the motor or the drive or summat) and is now stuck on one satellite. Also we don't have two wires down to the plug in the wall of our living room so we couldn't easily change between the satellite one and the regular TV one. (We don't have cavities in outside walls, wood framed an all that). A bloke spent two days trying to sort us out and only managed to partially do that. He did say we could get some kind of connector to allow us to use the one cable, he said a simple Y connector wouldn't work, something to do with "induction". (Like in a transformer? I have no idea.) so we just gave up on it. This was in the days before set top boxes and the huge range of channels you can watch now.

So sorry to hear this.
I take it you have had scans etc to show the damage done. And that your local friendly Chiro can't sort it out.
Just take it easy mate.
all the very best.
