Lots he can do to minimise the tax. Salary Sacrifice scheme, put more in the company pension (max it out and max out the employers contribution (it's free money).
Last 10 years of my job I put in £1309 a month and the company had to put in their maximum to match it. Boosted my pot to over half a mill. :)
Bet they loved you!!!
But that only happens if they have a high maximum, a lot of comapnies have cut it down now as they cannot afford it.
@kevstar W worked for three years beyond her retirement age, she didn't collect her pensions so her state pension went up by the time she drew it and this extra amount will not die with her, she will get it for life. Then I'll get the difference between the normal pension and the xtra, if she dies first.
Or you can take that extra money in a lump sum.
He could ONLY get really whacked for tax IF he draws his pension and carries on earning.
He won't have to carry on paying NI. And nor will his employer.

W dictated all this as she was an accountant and retired 3 years late, so she's been there done that.
Any pension he is already drawing will be taxed as will his earnings. As if he has suddenly had a huge pay increase by the amount of his pensions.
At the end of the day, income is income no matter how you get it.

And in case peeps have forgotted, I tiled first cos the worktop will be wider than most and leaning over it to do the tiling would kill my back as it cannot take leaning at a slight angle. Bigger angles are bizarrely OK. a;though I know others with the same problem.

Could you not have stood further away and on a step so the angle was good:confused:.

Only joshing mate:). Good luck though and maybe the reason the old 1 came out in 2 pieces;).
