In 2017 I thought I had learned how to weld.
I built my first trike and it seemed good. I added e-assist and it was nice & fast.
I was testing it on a downhill stretch when a critical weld failed and the left-front wheel folded under and I was pitched over the top @ 30MPH.
No skid-lid and my attempts to save myself broke my shoulder and I landed on the back of my neck on the roadway. My arm/shoulder saved me from dashing my brains out, but the neck got mangled.
I walked away not knowing how severe the damage was. I failed to go straight to A&E and instead went to Holland 2 weeks later for a cycling holiday. Been having problems ever since.
I remember you telling us about this before. Still a shame though. :(:(:(:(

I once helped an Asian bloke out who had somehow got stuck between Calais and Dover. Somehow his wife didn't have a passport for their kid or summat so he ended up on the Ferry coming back from Frogland having left his car there, his wife was stuck the wrong side of immigration in Dover with a very small kid/baby, no milk nothing. They had somehow got stupidly separated. He explained all this to me on the ferry so I offered to drive him and his wife and kid back to London as I was going there anyway and he needed to get to the French Consulate to sort themsleves out. I was a student and had my old Mk1 Cortina. I had to put fool in so stopped to put just enough in to get me to Lunnen and a little bit more. Blokey took the petrol filler from me and held it down until the tank was full. then went and paid for it. I took them right to the door of the embassy which sadly had closed minutes before. Nothing else I could do. But blokey was very grateful. ;)
(I'd completely forgotten about this until you told your story!:):):)) One of the many trips I made across the channel to see my ex when we were both engaged and living apart in the two countries.

Good on you, and good on him!:):):)

Nope, he already lived in Lunnen, the whole thing was a terrible mix up to do with kids in those days not needing passports.
Never got to the bottom of it and didn't really care, was just interested in racing from Dover to Kensington in the old banger to try and get them to the place that would sort them out. As it was I had to leave him with his wife and kid in just their clothes while his car and other stuff was still in Calais. :(

No rubber boats were harmed in this story!!!:D:D:D.
