Big temperature drop from +4° yesterday to -3° today.
Heating has not failed (thank goodness) but I bet this is going to cost a pretty packet for the rest of the winter.
A shopping day for her, but I might go as well and take her in my car instead of her roller-skate.

Not warm but certainly not as cold as we were led to expect. Up at 6.15am, let the dog out, made mysel' a cuppa and returned to mi' pit for a couple more hours of beauty sleep - yes, that's not going to improve matters I know.
Had an interesting experience yesterday - trying to get the young led who was standing outside my local co-op trying to sell the Big Issue in this cold a hot dring from insidde the store - he spoke no English and I spoke no ??? but together we eventually managed to work the drinks machine and then the ladies in the shop added a couple of warmed mince pies to go with his drink.
Now it's off to take the dogs out on their daily round of seeing who is taking the air today.
The optician has just phone to say my glasses are now ready for collection so I'll do that as part of the canine trip.
I am carefully watching the weather forecast for Christmas trying to make up my mind if Christmas away in the MH will be feasible.

.... the day-on-day energy costs (measured mid-mornings) has shown a jump to £18 for the last 24 hours from the ongoing average of £11.
So Winter has arrived. Gulp!

My Energy costs were containable at £168/Month. But when the major energy suppliers are reporting 4 or 5 fold increases in profits and blaming "global energy prices" I smell a rat.
Profit is sales revenue - cost of raw materials and internal costs and if they are trying to say it is the raw material prices going up is the problem, then their profits would be down not up.
It is rank profiteering, plain & simple (in my view). And if anyone thinks prices will return to their previous levels they are kidding themselves.
When people started talking about "The great Global Reset" a couple of years ago they were derided as conspiracy theorists, but here it is.
..... that the "keep the lights & heating going" plan for the inevitable 2022/3 power-cuts is taking shape.
The 10Litre Can of fuel is ready.
The generator is ready.
The "Suicide cable" is ready.
They can all laugh, but when I'm the only one around with lights and heating for 3 hours while they all freeze I shall just smile.

Plan is to let it all die when they turn the grid off, drop the incoming breaker, start the genny and plug the sewer-side cable (2.5mm mains cable with plugs either end) into the Genny and the closest mains socket and let it "back-feed" to the main bars in the distribution board and then on to the lighting rings etc.Just remember to turn off the mains switch cos I don’t think little Jenny can service the whole street

A bit like "wives & mistresses", as long as the grid and the genny don't ever meet up then the 3.5kW of the genny should run the essentials.

The wife took me to Barnsley today to look at expensive bits of radio gear. I may have made a purchase
Bin bliddy cold here too.
Went to wash out a brush outside, turned the tap on, triggered the gun on the metre and a half hose, nothing.
For a wee while, then a trickle grew to a flow.
So yep it IS feckin cold.
