Lots to think about.
If you want a room up there you'll need a decent height so a steepish roof. 45 degs angle? Don't planning have a say in this? In Frogland we couldn't have a roof with steeper angles than 30 degs.
Unless we were at over 600 metres altitude in which case we could have built a "chalet", so wooden Swiss looking thing. We are at just under the 600 metres, but we didn't care, we preferred the Provencal look anyway. but we didn't realise how it meant we couldn't use the roof for storage. which is a bit sh!t.
So if it was me, I'd go with the second idea, especially if you don't need a lift.
But that's just me, we all have different needs.

Planning is for 36 degrees the first bint from planning wanted a 22 degree roof wtf
then she tried to half the size of the garage & why do you need a garage that size if its only for
2 cars:rolleyes: the plans submitted you can easily fit 4 cars, yer & wot aboot it luv...now get me the
head of planning out for a site visit. :D
I think I could get away with 40 degrees & I dont need a lift but it would be nice
My long term plan was to turn it into a wee cottage after it was built, think its 3 years to apply
for a change of use. I think she sussed that oot. Tough titty the head of planning put her in place :p:D
She owns a nice tratter too I hope she sees this :D

22 degrees would hardly throw the rain off never mind the snow. Mad, this ain't the Med we are talking about!
40 degs would prolly do but you need to have a good think about it and plan access etc.
If you are thinking of changing it into a cottage why are you that bothered aboot the roof?! i'm guessing you are thinking you'll have it as a garage for quite a long time. ;)
What are the regs about a a holiday cottage? They can be feckin strict in Frogland. If you want to simply put in a log burner stove you have to jump through hoops!

Cant apply for a change of use for 3 years, not sure about stoves ect but I aint telling planning about
anything else. ;) Ive already got plans for it, done at the same time but not submitted as it would deffo
get knocked back.

No I dont I already know about the size of slates & the headlaps ect ;)
Scotch slate in that size are very very hard to get & if you find them they are mega expensive.
Planning passed mine at 36 degrees & I already have 4 pallets.
They need sized dressed & re-holed nice wee job for when its sunny.
