Gonna go get one o them lectric chainsaws soon!
If it is a plywood then cutting the ply with a utility knife on either side of the workpiece can often prevent splintering.Need to cut some kitchen cabinet boards today but always get splintering on edges,
I do put tape on both sides before measuring and cutting but can never get a nice clean cut
I'm using a very fine hand saw

I try to organise my sawing so the teeth go inwards on the side you're going to see, and break out on the side that's facing away. So if there's any splintering or bits of laminate come off, it's less noticeable.Need to cut some kitchen cabinet boards today but always get splintering on edges,

The alternative is to make furniture out of old floor joists and reclaimed scaffolding boards. Any splintering merely adds to the rustic appeal.

Ha, not too bothered about weight, I'm doing the seats in plywood and only three 60x50 cabinets including fridge leaving plenty of roomSo you might be wanting to keep thigs a bit lighter than my usual railway sleeper furniture then.
