correction.
I said our internet was down.
No it wasn't, my frickin pooter decided it wsuddenly couldn't "see" the WiFi box. Wifey's tablet was fine.
Din't know what else to do so tried a system restore, it didn't like that so tried to set up anew date to restore to, whatever it took from that it obviously worked.
So, do any peeps on here have an idea as to how its sensor or aerial or whatever got switched off? Just in case it happens again?:confused::confused:
Plenty of YouTube tutorials on deleting/creating resetting wireless connections for Windows. Download one and keep it on your hard drive. ;)

If yer meter's recently new then I would be surprised if it wurn't already a smart meter. If yer can't gerra fone signal where yer live's then it probably won't work assa meffud of automatically suppling the meter reading as they use GPRS for the comms signal. It's unlikely yer can get said signal where yer lives. Have a look at it. It will say onnit. Ovo should already know the type from the identity number. Praps they fink it's broke'd but they will be aware of signal problems in remote area's.
If I remember correctly it was put in just before they started doing Smart ones and there is no way of telling but, from its simplicity, I'm confident that it is not.
If it is any indication of age then the total number of kws recorded on it during its lifetime has just reached 30,000. The original one was installed in 1985 and I think this one went in about ten years ago - time goes so quickly.

Just had a thought. Up to the last few years 'a meter man ' used to let himself into the garden and come and do the reading for himself ..... then they modernised and we went to a 'do-it-yourself' online for three quarters and the metermen did the fourth one.

Race tracks are a bit like the skies. On can fairly safely assume that all those using them have a pretty good idea of what they are doing.;)
Our nearest Trunk road is the A40 and that is a favourite of the biking fraternity - beautifully surfaced, well cambered, twisty and very picturesque ------- and littered with memorials/annual flower displays etc. for those killed at the many 'fun' spots. Interestingly, those killed are mainly in the upper age bracket and were, almost always, riding high- powered machines. :(

Ta mate!
Is there an actual "switch" type thing on a pooter that can be switched on and off? cos it really did "feel" like this had happened?
If it's a craptop 'puter then many have an "all wireless networks off" (wifi & BluTooth) button or function-key sequence that toggles these things on/off (call it "Airplane Mode" and you will know what I mean).
That may be what you have inadvertently done.

Press the windows key once
the start menu will appear
Type: device manager
then click on it when yer see it in the list
look down the list for network adapters
find the wifi one
right click onnit and select disable
wait a few seconds then click onnit again and select enable
yer has just switched oft and switched on yer wifi
see if that solves the problem
Now THAT is what I think i needed to do!!!
I have just got this open, (Device manager) and this is what it came up with.
Which one do youm think is the WiFi one? Please?

although not a bikist I have heard that those most likely to hurt themselves are older peeps trying to relive their youf on new machines which are more powerful, and handle differently to the ones they used to ride when a lot younger.
Or maybe their reactions have slowed?
Sad isn't it?:(:(

What I find most sadening now is the dedication of the deceased's family and friends who continue to mark the tragic event.

Really, Really ⅎⅎo ǝɯ ƃuᴉʞɔnⅎ right now.
Son dumps his kids on us so he can go out for a night.
Why are they dumped on us? .....because his slut wife cannot be guaranteed to come home at all to look after her kids, and if she does come home she will get drunk and not be "safe".
So we have to look after them rather than there being a babysitter covering the slot between when he goes out and she gets back from work, stays sober and looks after her kids.
WTF is this? My missus is all "lets just get through it" and giving me $hit for feeling somewhat put out.

It really is hard on you and your good lady but keep telling yourself that you are doing this for the sake of the grankids. Yes, 'she' is neglecting them if she is not able to be a proper mother but two wrongs will not make it right - for the children. It may be necessary to have a 'fatherly' chat with your son so that he is aware that you are not finding things easy now that you are both getting older. I am sure he does know it but he is so involved in the situation that even he can't find a solution.
If she does come home in a state that she is unable to take responsibility for the children then it might be necessary for some 'Services' intervention and this would certainly count against her in any custody battle.

No the difference is you can safely say if you over cook it you will fall off but not encounter a kerb, lamppost, wall, something coming the other way. Etc.

Tiz why I rides an underpowered bike with better handlin than I has has the nerve for.
Is superb (for me) round the twisties an never gets out of shape. Took the time to sort the suspension an put some decent rubber on. That's where the fun is for me. Any fool can go fast in a straight line.
Seems to me that modern machines are always pushin the limit an "better" than new, or old, riders. Same wif cars I reckon.
