Morning All :D
Deathly quiet out there all night until my 3AM pit-stop. By then it had started blowing a little.
Allegedl;y it will hit 75MPH by lunch-time, but herself is just back from the butchers and says its a normal "windy" day so far.
Have a great Friday and stay safe. :D

I'll go back and do liks and reps later cos I has good news.
Wifey has just got back to me, her mammogram, ultra sound and touch-feelies are not showing a thing.:):):)
The lump seems to have disappeared yessdi, cos it was still there Wednesday cos I was allowed to feel it.;)
They obvs don't know what it was maybe a cyst? But anyway they are happy to tell her she hasn't got cancer at the mo!!!!!
So we are ultra happy. :):):):):)
Shopping came early today due to the wevver. And I had to put it away so I've got my tin hat on for when W comes back and checks how and where I put it all.
It IS blowin up a bit.
Have a safe day all!!!:):):):):)

There wossa program on them that gave incident results and prooved they're just as safe as normal motorways. Stats to back it up. Fings like average car is hit ont hard shoulder after 18 minnits. Fink it was 80 somefink times more likely to be hit in hard shoulder than when normal driving.

The test smart motorways under test were different to what was put in. They have less side fings to pull into. They is gonna put more in int future builds.

I agree wiv the theory of them. Burrit would be easier to reduce speed which allows more vikkuls to travel on the same stretch if road. That was the design of smart motorways... to carry more traffic.
TBH I have yet to look into this more deeply but I thort the govt was thinking of stopping or at least slowing down the roll out of these?
So I've looked and yes they are pausing it.
https://www.transport-network.co.uk/Govt-orders-pause-on-smart-motorways/17545#:~:text=Ministers have agreed to pause,of data from existing routes.&text=The Government has agreed to,hard shoulder schemes to ALR.
"AA president Edmund King said: ‘The AA has been a major critic of smart motorways in our campaign for over a decade to improve their safety. At last, we have a transport secretary who has made progress and taken a positive and pragmatic approach. He has today accepted many of the measures we have been calling for and our important demand that emergency refuge areas should be no more than three-quarters of a mile apart.

‘We are pleased our call for better evaluation of the stopped vehicle detection technology has been accepted but still question why it wasn’t fitted before schemes opened."
The RAC concur.
and this thing from the Beeb says that although the rate of casualties on SMs has gone down the rate of fatalities has gone up.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business...hey are safer than, get through to an incident.
They also say that having traffic moving more slowly is safer.
Of course it bloody is, doesn't take a genius to figure that out, but they could and do already slow it down on three lane + hard shoulder MWays anyway!
So if they want to add one more dodgty lane and slow the traffic right down, to get greater flow through/volume, well why not just drive on an A road?
We went up on the M3 and came back on the A3, Wifey is used to this as she used to commute on both regularly and she was right about how it was much the same time for the journey and far fewer static or very slow moving jams.

Bit damp this morning but very calm, forecast 20 mph winds later :eek:
Off out for my birthday breakfast, three score years and fourteen :)
Happy buthuthday , mate!!!!!!!
You is now 6 years or so ahead of me and one year behind Wifey!
Well done to have survived this far.
Enjoy the day and many happy returns!!!!!:):):):):):)
Don't get "blown away" by it all today!:D:D:D:D:D

That is brilliant news! :):):):)

Tree down at the end of our road. Two others on roads W had to use to get home.
Wood of all sorts on all roads. Panels down, roads near the sea flooded.
Mate of ours who runs a DPD depot has vans blocked in on peep's drives in the New Forest and other stuff. (Don't know why he let them go out.
Bins won't be emptied today. (Will be tomoz).

Have just reminded the council about the 6 letters I wrote to them, one including a report by an arboriculturist and ex-tree officer, re the trees near our back fence, one of which at least, should it come down, would do our house no good at all!:(:(:(
Stay safe all!!!:):):)

And thanks to all those who have come back with happy messages regarding W's boob!:):):)

Really getting breezy here now. :)
Power & Telephone cables aloft are shrieking in the gusts.
I am glad I refilled the indoor wood-store yesterday because if we lose power we only have a gas hob to cook on and the wood-burner for heating.
Fingers crossed that it passes OK. I hope you all are indoors & safe. :D

Bin to that there Lunnen today for the Visas.
Pleased to say all went well and we got asked a lot fewer questions and to provide less "stuff" than i thought we would.
Even Wifey's fingerprints, nearly invisible, passed muster although I did have to lean on her fingers when the scanning was going on!!
So off out for dins soon!
Was funny watching a pair of right nobs, Brits like us (except we ain't nobs) with a house they've owned "in the Alps for 22 years" feckin it up cos they can't read the info. Silly beggars were too tight to get recent photos done. The bloke looked far older and so did she, the guy behind the counter weren't fooled, and they'd made other mistakes and "we have to be off by the 4th of March".:rolleyes::rolleyes:
They got to a counter well before us and we left while they were still fecking around at a photo booth.;)
TBH they were all extremely helpful and cos W was in a wheelchair they even moved us to the head of the last queue.
We "only" had to wait 3/4 of an hour for the main interview and for the other 2 no time at all. :):):)
So, tomoz the Breast Clinic:eek::(, and if that goes OK we will be breaking out the champagne.;)
Have a nice evening folks!!!:):):)

Great news, Just goes to show PPPPPP as they say:).
