.........that tech stinks!
As do the purveyors of same!:(
Having gone to the Apple shop today to see about W's iPad.
It ended up with 3 visits to this place interspersed with 2 visits to John Lewis who sold her the wretched thing.
This all took so long I also had to nearly run to the car park to put more money in the machine.
Apple can't fix it, they can't fix anything on this type of iPad apparently! If it had been the batt they'd charge £99 for a replacement machine, but as it isn't the batt, then it's £399. For a four year old machine FFS.:mad::mad:
totally cannot see any logic in this but there you go. The tech did the test in front of us, allegedly proving what he said, little icons on a lappy screen. how would we know.
But John Lewis sold it to her so it was/is their problem.
He gave us a bit of paper with all the guff on it to take to them.
so we hiked down to them, the Customer Support peeps insisted we go see the techies, the techies there gave us the usual run around and eventually said "We ain't gonna do nothing as it doesn't say here it's an inherent fault".
so hike back to Apple who very willingly gave us another bit of paper again saying we didn't bust it and yes, it was an inherent fault.
Hike back to JL where the techies refused to deal with us and pushed us back up to, guess where? Yep, Customer Support. Who after a bit of round the houses went of to "take advice". then a smarmy little git came out to tell us that, as we hadn't reported the fault within the first 6 months, they weren't going to replace it.
As we didn't know about the fault, how could we?, they still didn't accept it was an issue but offered to do a thing where theypay us some money on a sliding scale as we have had 4 years use out of it. Well whoopee do! and they made a big production of "It won't be that much" and "we don't have to do this" Yeah real big of them.
And they even said that although Apple's records showed we had bought it from JL on such and such a date, that wasn't sufficient proof.
So pretty much par for the course.
so, Wifey being who she is and feeling the amputation of her iPad is unbearable, especially if she is going to have to go to hospital and/or off to France, she cannot stand being without one, so third visit to Apple at which point I had to hack all the way through two shopping centres up and down stairs etc to the car pack to feed the machine.
So Apple will replace the machine, it should arrive Tuesday, but they will need to keep the old machine as it is a "replacement". So we can't use it to beat JL over the head with.
So folks, buy an iPad and let it cost you about £150 minimum a year for 4 years then go out and do exactly the same thing again, just a bit cheaper cos Apple admit they are a bit sh!t.
I spent a large amount of time going through the statute of the recent Consumer Protection Law and it deffo is written to protect the retailer more than the consumer. The Sale of Goods Act which preceded it was much tougher.
But the slimy little toad is wrong, they would have to give us some dosh.
But they have slimed out of it cos Wifey cannot bear to be without it/one. (She listens to stories on it every night to help her sleep, zooms her friends etc.)
400 sovs! FFS, I have bought sooo many cars for less.:mad::mad:

And apparently the new iPads etc are going to be a lot more repairable.
Well it's her dosh but I am feckin furious, never saw this coming, thort they could repair one stupid component on a stupid PSB.

And breathe!!!!!:):):)
Hope you all had better days!!!:):):)

I played the piano when I was younger, id love to have the time to be able to play a guitar.
If you could play the piano, why not go back to it? Keyboard or electric piano with headphones if necessary so you don't annoy the wife or the neighbours?
Wish I'd learned it properly as a kid. Stopped too soon afore I could combine both hands properly with music, instead of having to do the left hand by ear when I play, using guitar chord symbols, FFS.
But I too would love to be able to find the time to play the ones I still can play even with the health issues.;)

@Stanleysteamer an anybody else who gives a damn. Fook Apple.
I had it with them when they insisted they took over my files just to play the music I already owned. And that was over twenty years ago, on a jip iPlayer that fooked up after a year. Complicated, impenetrable, clever ( in a bad way).
Fook em. Go Droid.
Here endeth the sermon. Peace. :)

You are preaching to the converted.
I have nothing Apple except an iPod shuffle that Wifey gave me for Christmas once. Never use it.
She has Apple phone and tablet also an iPod she too no longer uses.
I looked at Macs back in the day and would have appreciated the way they don't get continuously hacked and mucked around with by the internet scrotes, Microsoft is a cunt for always having to have a virus protector on it, and for its continuous sh!t updates, but it's what i know and i live with it happily and it's a sh!tload cheaper. :)
