... Gently by the throat ...?get a grip
Of what? They're annoying. Eggspecially at 1am. They're wasted if only a few peeps are watching them. Would be better if peeps went to a display or joined forces locally. This year one of the neighbours has concentrated on colour rather than bangers.get a grip

I think peeps should have a bit more respect for their neighbours. Mortar bomb type fireworks are annoying. There's no sparkle. Just a very loud bang. Living in a residential area... I think it's innapropriate. We don't need the police. They'll be busy helping the fire service on their busiest few nights of the year. We need peeps to be more considerate to others. 9pm till 1am is too much for one households display. Peeps know what they're doing. They have the option to think for themselves.yourself
you want them to police fireworks once a year when they cant even bother with break ins
you want to ban something because of the odd idiot, yes the police are stretched and struggling with political correctness but who else would police your banI think peeps should have a bit more respect for their neighbours. The police are stretched. They tackle requests on priority basis. Crime in action is a priority. Earlier this week the top police chief was ont radio 4. She made some interesting comments along the lines of not being under social pressure to take action against a wolf whistle when a quiet word to a building site supervisor requesting it to stop would be enough. Also the pressure to follow up crimes where the perpetrator is dead and therefore prosecution as a deterrent is never achievable. It makes sense.
