....that once they have you in their sights, they never let you go.
I just got called by the nice lady from the Alcohol abuse unit at the Hospital to check up on me.
I think she must be a trainee police-person or something. ;) Talk about 20 questions.
Have I been drinking? No spirits, no.
What have you been drinking then? From an alcohol perspective just Tonic water with a dash of red wine.
How much Red wine is that then? Less than 1/4 of a standard bottle in 4-days, like I say, just a dash for colour/flavouring.
Are you taking any drugs? What!! Goodness me no, not since i was about 20.

I know it is well-meant, but it is also a bit intrusive, it's not as if I am a "regular" at the hospital for such problems.
Eye fink the questioning is phrased in such a way as ter get an honest answer out of a drunk like yerself. Drunks struggle to answer yes/no but can answer how much.

Have yer bin drinkin? Nope.
Wot have yer drinked? 2 bottuls ov wiskey.

Took my brother to pick up a car today.
Garage gave him a receipt and the green new keeper slip
Then said he wouldn't be informing the DVLA until the end of the month !!
I said that it should be done right away but he insisted that he had been doing the job 30 years and always waited till the end of the month.

I pointed out that he really should inform DVLA right away but he was adamant .

So brother cant have his V5 in his name until the new year
Sending them all together from what he's sold to save on stamps?

Truthfully, this week has been my most sober week for a good many years.
Not proud of it, in fact a little the opposite. It has been "brewing" as a problem for a long time. :(
NVM, a timely wake up call maybe?

Mornin all!
Been watching auction on line. Wifey got the ring she wanted for half what she was prepared to pay for it so, result!
Live auction running in the back ground, as she has gone off to Xmas lunch with her mates.
Waiting to see what happens about the kiddies sewing machine and the table.
While she is out I'll be turning the house upside down until I find that feckin head unit that I had in my hands only 10 days ago. Still no sight or sound of the new drive-band.:mad::mad:
Then I might pull the lawnmower out of the shed and see if I can get the bearing out and off.
Weather sunny, quite nice really!
Have a nice day folks!
:):):):)

Indeed the cost of raw materials is incredible :(
Absolutely.
My mate who is a builder was telling me the deals he had to do to get the materials never mind the prices.
He is building a house for himself so needs stuff urgently all the time. He couldn't get plasterboard for love nor money so has finished the inside the traditional way, by plastering it. But he had to have PB for the ceiling. The guy he always goes to has to ration stuff but he was looking for Cedar planks. So my mate said, if you get me the pallets of stuff I need I'll saw you up the cedar trunks I have got for you. (He got that from Longleat!) So they came to a deal although his mate got a load of earache off the branch manager. (Travis Perkins).
He says he has seen bags of cement changing hands for £100.
FFS!!!
