Did mention the speeding tickets he wasn't worried, got bill of sale but L didn't examine it as it's none of my business really.

I said to my brother as he was filling V5 out with his address, you'll have a new V5 by next week, man said no because he doesn't send them off till the months end, I said surely the change of keeper should be now because of tickets etc, he said you're wrong just leave it there I've been doing this thirty years etc etc .

He was a bit slow id have taken a pic of the v5 then changed it online when I got home.

Surely he had a bill of sale with the date on it, so I cant see how this works.
Me neither, but what the seller hands over and what he gives a copy of to the buyer may well be different things. He is relying on the buyer not giving a sh!t as long as he has the vehicle and it is, eventually, in his name.
The seller will hand over whatever he feels like to his accountant and he will use this when filling in tax forms. There is no direct link between the tax office and the buyer. Neither is interested. It would take a buyer or two to question this with the tax office to kick off an audit of the sellers accounts. Why would they do that? Unless they themselves worked for the tax office, AND gave a sh!t nothing would happen.
If @landowner 's bruv gave a sh!t he could question this with his local trading standards, maybe. But at the end of the day, he paid his money and got a vehicle. So they may not be interested particularly either. He also may not wish to stir the sh!t in case he finds he is the illegal owner of the vehicle or has an insurance problem with it.
I'm not an accountant, I just live with one so have heard enough stories about fiddles, most far bigger and far more complex than this. Some international too! This is really small bananas. If it really is a fiddle and isn't just the seller making his and his accountants life simpler.
But have to agree, it is feckin bizarre!

@kevstar
That motor looks fun & well modified.
I hope you have some springs between them pads ? ;)
What about the rear prop? Is it modified as them Jonny joints really allow that axle to drop

Ive not touched the brakes yet, the calipers were on the hubs so I will be taking them off & a wee
clean up ect 2 brake pipes to make up for them as well. Both props are wide angle jobbys if I need
something more extreme it will have to wait, I need two front doors the ones on it are scabby & really
annoys me. :(
