Right, now folks!
News!
re the "thrum...thrum...thrum" my blessed Disco makes.
I changed the front prop yessdi, test drove it, no difference.
So I decided yet again to give the wheels another good looking over, starting with the one that is leaking oil. (Nearside rear)
So I stripped it down bit by bit and discovered that the oil seems to be coming from the sensor hole.
So I cleaned it a bit and gave it a wee tweek It hardly moved.
So then concentrated on cleaning it further, and found .....(Roll of drums!).....GREASE!
Aha! I sez to meself! Now how the feck has that got out of the bearing?
So I stopped before going ahead and taking it off, thinking i'd talk to you peeps.
I a\m wondering if the bearing is partially seized and has heated up and chucked a load of grease out. Although when it first became obvious to me I went around and touched all the wheel hubs to see if any were hotter than any other, and none were.
There are no leaks on any of the other three hubs and i had to take the two front ones off to put new boots on the big ball joints there, so I know i have tightened them up to spec and they would all be as clean as they should be. (I'm meticulous over cleanliness, lubrication and torqueing up nuts and bolts.)
So now I am left wonderin if I should jack up the other side and check it out too before going any further, or whether I should go ahead and take the hub off?
Like many others on here I am very loath to play with removing the sensor from a hub cos of all the probs peeps have had with them once off and then back on again.
But the good one back in the UK still has its sensor attached, and between now and getting back I don't give a fig for HDC, TC or ABS.
So, all you peeps with all the experience, what do you think?
Answers in the usual fashion please!
Stan.
I just heard one of the presenters on the footy say, "1992, nearly thirty years ago."
I refuse to believe that 1992 was nearly thirty years ago. Five at most.
Well here is one for animal owners.
got up this am and found a little bit of pain in the sole of my right foot, just behind the little toe.
I examined my sandal, couldn't see anything , felt around the foot couldn't see anything.
Put the sandal back on, still hurt.
So I got Wifey to have a good look. She eventually said "You've got a hair growing there!"
What TF!!!???
So I found a pair of tweezers, she managed to pull a bit of it out, it was very fine and white, I pointed out there was no root to it, so she had another look and tried to get the rest out, she couldn't!
So not believing that hairs could grow out of your sole I went online to find that "hair slivers" in the foot are a fairly common hazard in various occupations including hairdressers and dog groomers, and that anyone with dogs should be careful of them. And apparently wearing socks makes it worse!

Our youngest dog has very fine white hair, it must have come from her and I have been wearing socks more than usual due to another problem with my other foot.
Just cannot catch a break this year!
Never heard of it?
You didn't live in Hull then!
My grannies both swore by it.
I can still remember the catalogues!

Didn't say i wanted to be a snail, just have eyes on stalks!!Snails dont see very well plus how long would it take you to get spanner from the tool box and back

That is not like you Kev, normally you would have a box of stalk eyes and offer to send them over!More chance of getting rust in them what if you burned yer eye on the hot exhaust
Well I like it and loved it as a kid.I aint been to hull either is it nice.

Yer amongst Freelandering fiends. Come on, out wivvit.i was gonna post a stupid question but felt too embarrassed and deleted it
This being a rear hub, there are no CV joints, also both hubs, front and rear are near as dammit the same except for the big O ring on the rear one, and the reluctor ring is incorporated inside the hub, on both, so no, there are no teeth as such on the CV joint.I’m not an expert but, do the sensors not pick up on the teeth on the cv joint which sits in oil, grease, one shot?
That's taking a risk innit??Answers in the usual fashion please!
It was worth a tryEye only stock black eyes for peepers..got a noo indicator stalk or beef/chicken stock..
