...that 2 very long (5ft) hand-sawn tapered cuts (top to bottom) were made on each of the side cheek pieces in order to box in the timber beam within.
I need to get this all "hole-filled", sanded and painted in the barn paint before the deluge on Thursday.
I really have overdone it lately and my hands are letting me know what arthritis and nerve-damage is all about.

After he's applied the knotting, undercoat, caulking, another undercoat, sanded it, more filler/caulk and finally a top coat and wait to see if it needs another ...

It is getting a quick slap-on bit of fast curing filler, a sanding down immediately it has hardened, and then 2 coats of the acrylic barn-paint (super stuff, it really is)
