... The Conservatory re-work project has a green light. :)
Here is what will be done:
Roof off and deconstruct back to just the standing window frames.
All areas in Blue get the chop and are to be replaced with studwork walling.
Double thickness "ring-beam" on top of new stud walls.
Create 2 mansard roof shaped gable ends, one bolted to the rear wall of the house, the other at the other end of the conservatory.
Open-trusses all along the new roof (to form a vaulted ceiling), and a more or less flat 8-foot wide platform on top.
Skylight to be inserted.
Fully insulated in the stud walls, new LED downlighters in the ceiling.
Internal long "feature wall" to be faced with reclaimed scaffold boards (suitably pressure washed and then burnt with a blowtorch).
Externals of the stud walls to be exterior Plywood with expanded metal skin and cement render (to match house).

Footprint, max height and eaves height to remain the same.

Wish me luck! :D

Morning All :D
Relieved of paper fetching duty today, and got up late (bad night). :(
Terrific crash somewhere outside at 5AM this morning.
I came down to investigate to see if the badgers were digging for victory again. They weren't :)
My conservatory re-roof project is gathering pace, I worked out all the wood requirements yesterday (it is a lot).
The rubber roof skin alone is going to be £500, and she wants a skylight in the roof so that will be another £300.
I reckon its a good 2-3 weeks of work for ma and Thomas.
Have a great day everyone. :D
Not too bad then if your mum is going to be doing the work, along wiv Thomas!;)

I've always tended to the grumpy side of the force.
Now in my fifties, greying and thinning on top, an hairs growing out me ears, I feel I have grown into the role :)
You don't realise how lucky you are!
My first grey hair arrived at 23. and I started balding soon after.
I went from always looking about 5 years younger than I was to looking 8 years older than I was in what feels like no time!
Wifey always looks younger than she is, so despite the fact she is 8 years older than me we look like a normal couple, if i dare use that term.
You don't realise how lucky you are, until you lose it!:(
