You go to work and have a purpose. You remain tired and stressed but that actually keeps you honest. You take a long period of leave, or retire and hey ho you go down with an illness.
A lot of truth in this, many male retirees in their initial months find that their is a huge vacuum where work used to be and there is a real sense of "loss of purpose". This certainly happened to me. I worked 18 hours a day in the last job of my working career and boy did I notice the void when I retired. You do hear of some poor chaps dropping dead a few months after retiring because suddenly they lack purpose. Heaven forbid!
The first few weeks are a novelty, then, (if you don't take steps to create new pursuits or take up old ones) it can get boring. I have to say that this lockdown and Winter is not helping any, but these things will pass.
Spring is on its way and there is so much fun to be had.....Soon.
I hope you feel better soon @My Old Landy new adventures are on their way.

Well I feel lighter today!
£107 lighter!:(
I went to see the podiatrist and she nearly fell off her perch at how well my "bullet-hole" has healed.;)
She said it needs no dressing, she creamed my feet, measured them, told me one was a size bigger then the other, which i knew, then sold me some insoles to correct slight inner-ankle-down-ness, also flogged me some foot cream.
Oh and trimmed my toenails.:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Still she is giving me a free follow up in 2 months time. ;)
Oh and she checked my leg and said I didn't have DVT. Phew!:)
Still, £107.:(
So good news overall!
Have fun folks
:):):):):):)
