It's a bit funny but I watch YouTube on various platforms and I get anything from no adverts to one every 5 minutes!
Indeed, sadly I will lose the only thing I watch these days as I gave up on normal TV a few years back

If yer already gottid a youtube account then yer can add a number to add betterer security to the account. Like when eye log into mine eye gerra text message wiv a number to enter. Tis called two step authentication. If yer fergettid yer password then yer can use the phone number to help get access to yer account again. Also youtube allow access by using one time security codes. You generate them ont youtube and copy them to yer phooter. Use each code once to login.

Adds are generated because of the channel being moneyfied. The owner gets paid for interaction, not view count. Interaction is generated by number of comments, views, likes, social interaction, duration and number of adds shown/viewed etc. None of my video's have adds and eye dun't get paid. But if eye chose to then eye can pick how many adds show on me video's and when. Like start, part way through or the end. Some vodeo's have adds added because of their content. Like paid promotions eye fink.
I am aware of monitisation, what I mean is the same channels on one platform have adverts but not on another. The PlayStation rarely shows adverts nor my Chromebook but the tablet does quite frequently

Yer may find it came from opening an account somewhere else. Like when eye tried picasso to edit pic's. Registered wiv them years ago. They were or became part of google, which then bought youtube and linked it all together. Eye-dear being they want yer ole life to be ont one google account app fing. Bastids. Ah dun't comply wivvit. True to my word, I have followed all your instructions to join youtube and upload a video. Just don't expect to see it this side of next Christmas though - a 3 min long video is going to take 2 HOURS to upload. I need to follow Hippo's advice and fall asleep in the chair.

Did it allow yer to enter a land line with say 4433... With 33 as the area code and 44 as uk dialling code? They must have other users without mobile numbers.That wasn't on offer for me.

Eye remember thems long hours if waiting ferran upload to end. The move from 56k modem ont dial-up to 2 meg broardband was unbelievable. Make sure yer phooter dun't fall ah sheep when the screen saver has been running ferra while due to inactivity, causing yer to start yer upload again. If its the same upload file youtube sometimes remembers the first bit when having a second go.
I was not given any help/suggestions, just a comment 'we can't accept that number'.
